Who thought it was a good idea to lock builds out of 50 levels of grinding and why have we stuck with it for this long?
Sure you can say each class plays differently or whatever or the experience is subjective but it feels like a whole entire section of the game is missing. Why am I suffering 25-30 hours of grinding just to start playing the game the way it was intended? I don’t know what kind of buffs are coming but there needs to be huge buffs to certain aspects of the game in terms of a character progression curve.
Play Diablo 3 if you want to hit cap in a day. It doesn’t even take that long to hit 50. The real grind starts at 70.
What does this even mean?

You’re only wasting your breath at this stage, luv. You’ll never convince anyone of what you’re peddling, because you’re simply dead wrong.

It’s not even about the grind.
Characters feel horrible till you get to about 50 or so then you’re getting rekt in nightmare till you get good gear with decent substats.
Then it happens again in torment, till you get some decent ancestrals.
Then at that point you have to pray to the RNG gods for upgrades with crappy NM dungeons and nerfed to hell regular dungeons.
Blizzard: It’s about time for the buffs.
Me as a Sorc player: WHERE ARE THEY?

What am I peddling exactly? That hitting 50 in 2 hours would ruin the game? That dumping paragon power at us before we even finish the campaign would immediately trivialize all of the content and turn it into a glorified cookie clicker? That’s what I’m peddling.

Even on Veteran the game isn’t hard early, it’s just less fun. Too much of the system is in the aspects to hate them off so severely like they have. Even the vendor gear, imo, is too gated.
Just not enough player agency in the early game.
Sufficient as in production ready? The D4 management team. They lost a huge number of customers imho and even worse, future revenue. And all for what? A short term stock boost. If the D franchise died tomorrow, I wouldn’t even care. Because that already happened in 2005 when Condor games was shut down by Blizzard. On the bright side, more time playing the greatest ARPG of all time, PoE.
Preforming in a storage unit with a fog machine is peak music video footage.
I have no idea what that means. Any build you want to play, you can play from level 1-100
Bottom line is that for most classes character progression and class fantasy doesn’t really feel good until tier 3 world tendency. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to smoothen that curve a little. Sadly, D4 learned nothing from D3 and they just copy pasted the same progression. Lock all builds behind items and don’t offer but like 10 optional builds for the entire game. Unless Blizzard gets their head out of their pooper the game will repeat D3’s cycle and go into maintenance mode a year after the xpac launches.
I get what you’re saying and I do think the paragon board should come online sooner in the leveling process than 50.
BUT show me one build that’s actually made by the paragon board. The paragon board doesn’t make builds. It’s only enhances pre-existing builds by % modifers and stats.
The paragon board needs a complete overhaul. We need more than % modifiers. We need the paragon board to actually enable or change the way we play the game. For the most part, it doesn’t really do that.
Builds aren’t locked. You can start them and build them as you level. The key difference between past games and this one is you can’t solely rely on raw damage. You have to exploit bonus damage to see meaningful gains from upgrades. I don’t know how it’ll do in higher content once I ding seventy or higher but the build I’m running on my Sorc is doing pretty well thus far. I stacked damage to Chilled/CC/Frozen with some Vulnerable as the cherry on top. She shreds things because everything gets chilled, and chilled counts as CC. Bosses take a bit of work since they can’t be frozen but once things turn into ice blocks I delete them in a hurry. It kind of wanes as my weapon gets old but thankfully the game has given me enough supply to not fall too far behind at times. When I first hit WT3 I had to work to kill and not be killed. Now I can kill quite easily and survive a bit more too. Except for the mast breaker mobs. If they get lost in a pack and doe their AoE I pop like a pinata.
Lightning wolf build < lvl 50. Go!
So you want all builds to fully synergize at level 1? Taking a character from level 1 disjointed damage sources to a completed build with all the synergies working is the best part of the game. Skipping right to endgame builds is just tedious instant gratification.
There’s nothing magical about level 50. Even for builds like lightning wolf, you either have the unique or you don’t. The build comes online when you can equip it.
Ah, but I didn’t say that, I was merely responding to the prior ridiculous comment that you could “play any build” from level 1-100.
