Who is ready for all of the "bAnWaVe" threads?

With the introduction of LBs these forums will be full of players screaming for ban waves for mostly imagined reasons.
The real fun will be here on the forums as tears flow like D3 piñata drops

If the leaderboards are simply “Who levels up first” of course people are going to do that. If you create a competitive race that can be cheated, you can guarantee people will find ways to do it. And the people who get frustrated about it are well within their rights to be. While not a lot of people actually care about leaderboards, there are some who do and I can understand how frustrating it is to really try for something only to be beaten by something not legit. Imagine how Emma Weyant felt.

Blizzard is well aware what is happening in their games, screaming banwaves on the forums will not change a thing. Go look at D3 a bot infested hole and all their crying didnt do a thing

I think there are a lot of people who will wonder if this comment was sarcasm or not.

If they knew what was going on with their games, why wouldn’t they work to make it better?

Good question, they probably dont give a crap, but my point is all of the crying and whining didnt do a thing

We don’t know that for a fact.

The devs have said that they do read the forums even if they don’t post. Maybe they’re just reading it for the lulz? I wouldn’t be surprised about that since a former GM said that other GMs laugh with each other over legit customer complaints.

However, the squeaky wheel gets the grease… if at all. If it doesn’t squeak, it will definitely not get the grease.

Lol. Who cares about leader boards besides the cheating streamers and no lifers?

Those do make up the lion’s share. I know there are some who do for personal reasons. That’s fine and all. It only becomes awkward when they bring it up years later. I know I make a few references to D3 but some of us spent years on that and this is unfolding with similar patterns… but some will be like "I’m right because I was rank X in season Y (which was 4 years ago). After 1-2 seasons, nobody will even remember you, if at all.

The only thing Leaderboards accomplish is fabricating some make believe competition aspect in a game that has no competition.

If they want competition, then make the pvp area bigger and let the players compete against each other. Or do some sort of pvp timed event/arena with some kind of reward (even then the sweaty no-lifers and/or cheaters will prevail).

Leaderboards only promote cheating while leaving the average player out of the action.

I do not disagree with you at all, friend. Diablo has yet to implement leaderboards that are actually worth a normal player’s time. Legit players have no chance, topped off with no real reward for “winning”. It’s just way for cheaters to brag about their “accomplishments”.

It’ll be a mix of asking for nerfs, bans, and allowing solo players their own LB’s where loot drops like candy because they feel they need participation trophies for just making their character. All by people who would have no chance on the LB’s normally.

Honestly I’m looking forward to the bot race on the LB’s. It’s a game to see how long a bot can last on the LB before getting banned. One day you’ll log on and just see the top 50+ wiped off the board, if not more. Get your  ready, it’s gonna be a wild ride.

If it’s going to be like challenge rifts in D3 this won’t be a problem. You’ll get a fixed class, with a fixed build, on a fixed map an try to finish it faster than others. But if only the map is fixed an you can go with your own character, than that’s a whole other story.

I could not care less about "ban"wave you act like we don´t have flooded market with duped items. Blizzard is as usuall unable to fix bugs and punish players.

Unable isnt the correct wording

Unwilling is a better term.

lets settle on incapable…

See. I think they have the capability and ability, i just feel that they do not WANT to.

How did you come to that conclusion?

It’s common knowledge.

In D3, one could track how many hours an account played each and every season. The major complsints were those accounts that played seemingly impossible hours. Sleep is a requirement for human survival. As such 24/7 accounts for several months are highly suspicious.

The D3 paragon cap in S29 helped level the playing field.

I suspect that this statement is inaccurate. Even if the majority of players are not trying fot the leaderboard or pushing for higher rankings, I bet most players are intetested in how far players have gotten whether it is the race to 99 in D2 or GR clears in D3.

There will be a banwave but my feeling is that the posts you will see more often will be along the lines of “Why did I get banned, I didn’t do anything wrong?”

The reason I say this is because of AoZ and the data they have likely collected. This design was genius and allowed the developers to streamline their data collecting for all types of exploits. People who abused things like snapshotting and continue to do so next season if it’s not removed may get actioned for using it to get on a leaderboard. Or players who get zero kills in an activity and show up for the experience and glyph levels only might also see the same thing.

They literally handed us what was supposed to be an impossible task and players knowingly colored outside the lines to achieve it ultimately realizing ing that no action would be taken. This will change, the bans will come. Forums will be :fire:
