Who is doing the pricing

With the expansion going on discount just over a month after being launch clearly indicate sales are low. So make sense to put on sale to get more units out. One big problem why is the expansion cheaper if you don’t own a copy of Diablo 4 ? How is that not a slap in the face for those who had the game before ? If you had release the expansion for 20$ it would have sold way more units but greed…

Base game sold over 10m copies at launch. It had a sale almost 3 months later reducing the price by at least 20% depending on the version. Started August 30th and lasted until Sept 4.

I’m not saying the expansion did as well as the base game in terms of sales, I’m just pointing out the fact this was more than likely planned regardless of sales numbers. This is my opinion mind you based off the facts presented above.

I tend to never think about what some pays for something after I already purchased it. Clearly by my handing over my cash, I agreed at the point of sale the price was worth what I was getting.

Your line of thought… Wait two years and it will be even cheaper yet… Wait five and even less… That thought you may never buy anything…

If you think any company would reduce the price of a product 1 month after launch cause the product is doing well or expected you are sadly mistaken.

When did I ever say that? I presented facts, nothing more. You can infer what you want about the sale.

you said it yourself you wont have discount if you own base game, you have to buy both, its basicaly discounted base game not dlc.

I would love to agree with ya but it’s the holiday season and Christmas is right around the corner not to mention black Friday in a few weeks, your going to see sales this time of year on pretty much everything

It’s a digital copy. Making more doesn’t cost them a dime. Of course, it should go on sale after the preorder and launch window. It pushes those on the fence to finally buy it—and maybe the battle pass too. It’s not generosity; it’s just smart, calculated marketing.

It’s almost as if they know a certain percentage of people will pay full price but if launch is close to a major holiday that’s also well known for discounts and you discount it shortly before that you’ll get a nice chunk of people buying that’ll push the sales numbers up for the quarterly earnings call. But sure your claim sales are dropping also sounds plausible.

What are you even on about? Are you okay? Legit. Do you need a help number? Iggi literally just stated a simple fact. Do you know what a fact is? Like seriously educate yourself before ever speaking again.

The fact IS Blizzard discounted Diablo 4 (base game) by 20% after 1 month just like the expansion. Blizzard sold 10 million copies at launch.

Please grow up already. Clock is ticking.

Oops almost forgot to add make sure to buy some of those wonderful skins in the in-game shop! LOVE the warcraft themed ones :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I bet they didn’t even keep half of those people. They haven’t done a single thing right since that beta. Whole gaming world was on fire. Now, no one talks about the game at all.

It’s how the business works. Only the people invested in the game talk about that game. Everyone else has moved onto the latest and greatest, whatever it so happens to be.

Now I could add a bob comment here:

Except people like you on the forums. :stuck_out_tongue:

Still not buying it.

If I recall D2R also went on sale with a reduced price shortly after launch.

Bliz doesnt have much to worry about.

The base whines and complains to no end and then 65% or so have played spiritborn. That is a huge amount of players buying VoH. Its the same for stuff in shop as well.

While the player base experiences a game lacking in many areas all the bean counters see at Bliz is success because the $ is rolling in. Until the player base is willing to back up complaining and whining with action nothing will ever change and this is why S6 has largely been abandoned. No big mid season shake up. Recycled events. They are doing the “good enough” strategy because its saving development money and POE2 beta is coming out in DEC and they dont want to even bother fighting that.

Its a tactical retreat and its totally working.

Hopefully we get the benefits in S7. Hopefully that is what the focus is on. S6 is a lost cause now. We still have massive dupes going on. Tell me another season they gave up this badly vs dupe exploits???

I will most likely not pre purchase anything again. I will just wait a few weeks next time.

Its basic marketing strategy. They release the price high to make money from early adopters. There is no indication that the sales were low.

The only indication we got is that the haters are uneducated.

Need for customers for those worthless cash shop items.

So when does the next D4 killer come out?

Christmas season, holidays, some other game plans on releasing it’s title…

Makes sense that people on vacation etc might spend reduced price on a game verses full. Just don’t know. Any sale now is just bank. If the other title gets delayed and there’s a reduced price, could be an impulse buy to get by.
