So, I encountered an event. I started the event. I was smashing it solo. IT was a challenge but not overwhelming.
Then some numpty-mcgee came charging in (overlevelled character) and just destroyed everything.
Opened the chest and dashed off. Yes I got my own loot. But part of the joy of an event is completing it then opening the chest.
What the hell?
Why am I playing? I don’t need to. Numpty McGee is higher level than me and will smash the events and enemy for me.
I am detesting the MMO component with a passion.
You are the nephalem. You are one of the chosen few.
Except in Diablo 4 where it’s every bloody man and his dog.
If I want to play an MMO like this, then I’ll play WoW.
I haven’t even looked at chat.
And remember. This is BETA. They need feedback.
IF you enjoy it, speak up. If you hate it. Speak up.
Give them feedback on their (godawful) implementation of multiplayer. (This statement may have been biased)
I don’t mind multiplayer in town. I can handle that. But in the field? Nope. I’m the hero. Not everyone. This is Diablo. 1 or a small group against many.
If you don’t like the MMO component then just do dungeons. If people join me in the event, I don’t care. Just means faster kill for loot.
Events are mini-instant dungeons.
So why are other people there?
I’m a WOW player, so I do enjoy it.
I think the game is looking good so far.
I actually feel the same.
Loving the game but I can’t appreciate the mmo part of it.
It’s immersion-breaking imho.
IT’s looking (visually) brilliant. I love it. The story so far is engaging.
The immersion is about the same as one of my farts after I’ve eaten a felafel. Noone wants to be there.
What don’t you like about it?
Please read original post.
Keep in mind, I’ve played Diablo from when Diablo 1 was first released. So rose tint glasses are included.
Diablo was ALWAYS an individual or a small group who were kinda bonded (Read: LAN Party). Randoms joining in just breaks Diablo. It’s not Diablo anymore.
It’s now WoW:Tristram.
I’ve played since Diablo 1 as well and for me personally… it’s a MASSIVE improvement on what the game was.
Diablo 1-3 was all very limited on what you could do and I thought Diablo needed to change to become better, because it had become stale with lack of content.
Yeah, I do find it kind of lazy that their fix for D3’s poor solo implementation is to basically remove the ability to solo completely. Also, with the quest !'s, the resource nodes, the mounts etc., it’s more or less just WoW lite now. Waiting for the subscription fee to get announced.
Hate the mmo component
I’m loving the MMO aspects, the world feels alive. I had zero issues, I saw maybe 10 people total from level 1-25 and they didn’t impact my game at all.
Caveat. I’ve played this since Diablo 1 when it first came out.
Diablo is the story of the Nephalem. A “Chosen One” if you will.
They are few and far between. Extremely rare. Many don’t even realize their power.
So here I am. A chosen one. The chance of me finding someone like me is 1 in a billion (At current world population of real life Earth).
And. HEY NEIGHBOUR! I see you can destroy stuff too. And everyone else on the street.
Oh wait. The entire suburb was nephalem? No worries.
DO you need me tomorrow? I’ve got a golf game. You got it? No worries. Thanks champ.
You get the idea. Your character is no longer special. They’re just another 1 in a hundred. Who cares.
Technically, no.
The concept of Nephalem only was brought up in Diablo III. None of the PC from the games before (uncertain as for Diablo Immortal because the storyline is vague at hinting if the PC is a Nephalem or not) were Nephalem (according to lore).
Just thought you should know in regards to that part of the Nephalem lore.
The game is a reskin of WoW … with less robust servers handling the massive component too many players cause. You’d think Blizzard would know how to scale the server farm to handle thousands of people wanting to play at the same time.
But like Diablo: Immortal, Blizz is setting the game up to allow them to monetize gameplay. For that they want shills working for them online, and too many players are more than willing to be just that for them.
Same.
You were one in one hundred with D2 and D3 as well, just because you don’t see em, doesn’t mean they aren’t there. The MMO aspect doesn’t make me feel like, “I’m not the hero of this story.”
What? It’s maybe a reskin of lost ark… but WOW? Nah.
I love it… means they’re not going to abandon it, and the world will change a lot. I am tired of grinding the same maps/sections of the world over and over again like in old ARPGs… sorry that’s got to go.
This is correct.
Now retconn this game. (I’ll also say. In my personal opinion. Diablo Immortal does not exist. That was a god-awful game. The story was bad. The gameplay was bad. The background was bad. The only thing that was good was monetization)
Also worth noting. I loved the Sin War books. Which I’m sure you’ll agree was an important keynote in the story of Diablo history.
It’s also worth pointing out that Sin Wars books are considered Cannon.
Yep, the Sin War books were what helped shape the background lore of Diablo III.
Lore discrepancies aside, I agree with the notion that this game has gone off being too MMO-ish. As a reply I made in another thread goes:
Damn. I am sorry.
Yeah. The MMO changes it. Entirely.
