This is about the most first-worldy of first-world complaints so please understand it’s said with a smile and a laugh. I don’t really care. Except, well… just a little…
Every time I open one of these caches from the tree of whispers I am literally standing around waiting for all the stuff to finish unpacking. It takes forever.
I guess that’s what we get for complaining there wasn’t enough loot before… :-).

I was just thinking this same thing because I’m standing at the tree doing it.
I can just picture some Blizzard developer thinking, “Oh so you all gave us a hard time about not having enough loot, did you? Well here’s your loot. Careful what you wish for…”
Theyre gonna teleport us to a treasure room with so many mats we can’t fit them anywhere and teleport to stash will be disabled.
Everything is a monkey’s paw with Blizzard

It’s Blizzard’s trolling. They could just make everything drop as one big stack each.

This is the Slot Machine effect. Since they’ve reduced item drops to near nothing, and Ancestral drops to actual nothing, they want to trick your mind into believing you’re getting a lot of something for your time. You’re not. The problem is there’s a percentage of the player base that actually falls for this and think drop rates are appropriate. They are not.

Sounds like Vaults of Atziri
More on topic. Didn’t they say they were going to fix this in last patch so not so many small piles were dropping?

Honestly, I love this rain of gear and materials. It feels awesome, because life never does this to me.
Honestly it was cool the first couple of times. Loot or gold raining down on you? Alright!
But then it becomes routine. It seems this is their design, creating a routine set of objectives for us to complete. Once that happens then you just want to get your loot and move on to the next objective.
Does it feel a little disenchanting? Yes. But that’s what you get with an hourly changing objective based system.
"Guys we want you to see a slow, time consuming stream of the overly convoluted amount of crafting crap we are giving you! "
Let’s not forget. This is the season of “looting materials”.
Gear drops, other than target farming lesser uniques, are basically non-existent.
So they shower you with a long drawn out stream of Materials.
This is no longer a Looter game. This is a Materialer Game.
It’s pretty funny actually. I open one of those things and while it’s spewing out the stuff, I run around doing other things such as selling inventory, salvaging things and sorting away things into stash space, all the while the gush of things pouring out of the cache is flying through the air into a neat pile a screen away.
It’s fun. It’s even more fun if you pop 10 of them all at once
I opened a super ultra rare mythic purple one on day 3 and its still going….

But but but, whisper caches are awesome nonetheless.
So many items to get your aspects, so many Ancestral tributes to get sellable GA items, so many Iron, Rawhide, Souls, Compas, etc.
Whisper caches were really good to me this season. They are so worth it now: 2 pvp ones, undercity, horde, maiden, ice, zir, etc…you double-dip rewards.
