Whirlwind Buff A Joke 🤡

I was excited to hear in the recent campfire chat the developers are buffing the iconic skill Whirlwind. But after reading the patch notes for Season 7 Patch 2.1, a measly 4%? That’s the best we can do?

Whirlwind

  • Damage increased from 18% to 22%.

Buffs, buffs, buffs, they want more buffs, give them more buffs, they need more buffs.

Skyrocket buffs… :rocket:

Blizzard wants you using Earthquakes and Dustdevils, which have been oddly enough buffed hugely. They believe this is what players want when they say “Make Whirlwind great again”.

At least WW got a buff. Most things did not get touched. They nerfed Iron Maelstrom potentia.

HoTA with the new Mountain Fury chest with ridiculous Strength, EQs and WW purely for DD spamming is the Meta Blizzard expects you to play. Fall in line peon!

I do agree the buff is very underwhelming on the surface but it’s more than it seems at first glance. The base damage got buffed. 4% more damage from a source that was originally 18%, and is going to be 22%, is actually a 22% damage increase. 4 goes into 18, 4.5 times. 100/4.5 = 22.22% damage increase. This increase in base damage is then increased by all of the other multipliers. It comes out to more than what most people think is just 4% additive damage. It’s not great but at least it’s something. Some other skills got nothing.

Unfortunately, don’t expect Blizzard to balance skills/builds appropriately. They did the exact same thing in D3, so I can only assume it’s by design. It’s likely, so that each season they can come out and go “Look! We buffed x skill and gave it a unique/legendary aspects to make it good!”

I would absolutely love for a viable WW build that can just rely on pure direct-damage WW, via attack speed scaling and +WW size tempers. But no, the only viable WW build has to do the whole dust devils + earthquake gimmick or you basically do no damage.

They will never get class/skill/build balance tightened to a point where it’s even remotely equal. I think part of the blame is on the general playerbase too though and what Blizzard think players want.

“Thank you sir may I have another!”

Apparently you haven’t theory crafted all of the buffs as a whole. Yes, the build will still be reliant on quake/devils but it is going to be INSANELY strong this season.

Wowowowo calm down, you talking about something it’s impossible for more than 95% of the players base of every ARPG!

That you have to rely so much on “gimmicks” is one of the major letdowns in D4.

People are still playing this game when the clearly better game was released a bit over a month ago?

I’m still waiting for the devs to wake the F up and make the game better. Until then, I’ll ridicule people who still play this trash.

What a freaking goal in life, what a example.

Definetly.

Spoilers : I joke, sort my socks is more interesting than acknowledge your superior mind.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the barb actually used a weapon to hit enemies with instead of just basically being a Wizard?

Barb Wizard. Bizard. Blizzard.

I think WW should be independant from Earthquake, and need a specific unique like 2H Axe or on legs who can change the gameplay style and deal something completly different. Dust Devils is not a problem IMO because it’s really something who work well with WW to reach distant target.

Almost all buffs that Blizzard gives that doesn’t have some unexpected bug attached are a joke.

I actually posted something similar to this somewhere. Same applies unfortunately now to Rogue with the metas being Shadow Clone and Rain of Arrows.
Already have four spellcaster classes with Sorc, Druid, Necro and SB. Did we really need two more?

And Death Trap in outsider since the up.

But this season is really around Ultimate.

Paladin hopefully (lol) will bring a pure melee fighter in the future.

Unfortunately Ultimates are more PR than an actual depiction of damage.

Ultimate-Rogue sounds like fun.
Druid sees Rogue dancing. "Hi, i heared you are swift acrobatic masterfighter… a true ninja. Why are you dancing? Rogue sighs and replies: “Im waiting for a rain of arrows.”
