Where to see the real player numbers?

the developers say that only a minority is dissatisfied with d4, but the forum is full of criticism. where can you see how many players there really are, who were so many at the time of release?

and if the stats say d4 lost 25-75% of its players, do you think this is normal because every game loses players with time? at how many % would you say its normal / decent and when its too low?

Blizzard will never show true numbers. Game is already on sale. Pretty sure they lost more than 75%

game is a trainwreck but they don’t care. sold big numbers on the back of d1 d2, job done.

Players with a voice are often those with critique, you mostly dont see those who would simply say “good game” - because that would be expected anyway.

Without any official notes to D4s playercount, its actually impossible for outsiders to know how many players are online, this can only be estimated by different means - which obviously produces different results.
You likely find some of those to be dooming, while others are close to “no change at all”, with your own gutfeeling and looking at friends, you will create your own picture of it.
Some games have a seasonal fluctuation, others are pretty constant in their player count, but most can stabilize around a certian value. Even New World (which I would say is doomed right from the start) still goes on, which likely means it creates healthy amounts of $.

What is normal? Looking at a few games, a -25% seems pretty standard, either as a permanent loss, or an intermittent low to high wave in the statistics.

Closed beta was good, open beta was good. Then they started nerfing sorc into oblivion and killed the whole game. Where is my hydra build from closed beta? Other problems like crap itemization, zero end game, no stash space, tiny inventory, horrible bland and shallow S1 are just minor.

The game is like D3 but worse in many aspects, is less fun in long run. There are less builds for sorc then in that failed D3. Why is so hard for them to let us play what we wants?

Why does any of this concern you?

why does it concern you, what concern me?

Im curious why you are worried about how many people play a game. Why does it matter?

The more people play a game the more revenue is expected and the more development time is allocated.

No one playing then this mess isn’t going to be fixed.

I still dont understand why anyone would be concerned about that. Why worry about how much revenue the game makes or how much development time it gets?

Why not have this information? It’s interesting.

I don’t think any one user is concerned per se. They are just curious. Blizzard employees are the concerned ones in all likeliness.

What’s with you not understanding the curiosity to know population numbers and its relevance to the state of the game? Are you purposefully obtuse?

I can understand if its just out of curiosity but the OP wants to know if its too low which implies concern. In the end who cares, other than the developers, if this games population is low. Play a game if you like it, not based on how many people play it.

I heard this exact same thing on turtlerock studios evolve board. Don’t worry about player count. Game is doing fine. Month later game was free to play. Half a year later game got binned.

Again, who cares? Why would I be concerned about that?

Yeah, people have different curiosities. Just because you, personally, don’t care about the population numbers of games, doesn’t mean there aren’t other people, who may find answers to some questions they, personally, deem significant, by finding out how many people play a particular game.

You don’t have to care. This thread isn’t about you. Neither does an inquiry about these things bother you in any way. It’s not like you receive an electric shock whenever an inquiry about population numbers of D4 is made.

I don’t understand why you get on people’s back. No one expects of you anything.

Why are you so upset? Weird. Im just asking why anyone would care about this and you get all butt-hurt.

For not caring all that much you are making a big fuzz here. I explained it to you. You can keep your opinion but that doesn’t really change the discussion.

How is asking a question a big fuzz?

Lol. You need to let go, man. Just chill. You don’t have to understand everyone’s motivation. If you don’t understand, that’s OK. People’s curiosities don’t have to be explicable to you.
