I lack the geography knowledge of Sanctuary, but can’t help to wonder where the heck is Tristram or Westmarch? Isn’t the open world map the whole Sanctuary? I was expecting to revisit the famous locations from D2 or D3 but just seem not to find them in D4.

Look for a Santuary map on Internet. We are on another continent at the moment.
If you played D2, we are on the same continet as in ACT 3

Yes, I remember when the game was just announced back in years, in some early advertisement they said “you get to explore the whole Sanctuary in Diablo 4”
