Well?
In a game about slaying Undead and Demons, Heaven vs Hell, Light vs Darkness set in a world with diverse amounts of rich lore, locations, and backgrounds regarding Orders of Holy Knights there is no Holy Knight available and seeing how the leaks are true, won’t be one for 2+ Years. This blows my mind, instead we get spiritborn, a knockoff druid/shaman for 0 reason that is bereft of both creativity and impression.
What Expectations are they trying to subvert here and why? hopefully they’ll hear the feedback and realize the game should’ve launched with Paladin and we’re not interested in whatever plan they have with it to save their game 2 years from now when no one cares about it.
Diablo 2 launched with 5 classes.
Well, let me ask you a question: At this point, what makes you think the devs want us to have fun?
Until they put in set armor, do you really want a paladin or crusader? not gonna be fun imo
Sounds like some one didn’t do the side-quests in D4. Having done them you would know exactly what happened to the Paladins and Crusaders.
Crusaders are currently in the swamp region. You meet Tomyris in Zarbinzet.
Fixed. was in Holy Rage.
From a dev standpoint, they have already said that, outside of what was released at launch, they were not looking at bringing back any classes found in past Diablos for a while. They stated they want to 100% do something new to show what they can do with Diablo 4. This then means, as you’ve stated, up to 2+ years or more, since the next expansion releases next year, which introduces Spirit Born. They want to try and have an expansion annually, but I doubt even that will happen.
They know what the feed back is, but what they’ve said stands firm. Asking for a Paladin or Crusader, at this point, is beyond silly. We have our answer. I get that’s a tough pill to swallow, but you’re gunna have to swallow it and move on, since the game is 100% playable without it.
No, not really. You’re making presumptions based off of a few words… there isn’t anything concrete that suggests that it’s a rehash of the druid. We have been promised a new and unique class and I believe that.
This is a mistake. Everything they’ve done on their own has been far worse than past Diablos. All of their improvements for season two were copy/pasted straight from D2, including uber bosses, resistances, target farming, etc… It seems the only way they’re capable of actually improving the game is by using ideas and systems from past Diablos. They honestly need to stick to that, since their original ideas are so bad.
Further, sequels are supposed to use what worked in past iterations and simply build on the foundation that was already in place. Trying to reinvent the wheel is insanely idiotic, as made apparent by literally every single attempt at deviating from past Diablos.
So what? It’s easily the worst Diablo in the IP. This team has no idea what they’re doing.
Why? What, exactly, inspires that confidence in this particular team?
The ship has sailed on the
Paladin/Crusader/HolyDude being in the game for awhile. Between the books, some in game side quests, and (I think) main quest items it is fairly obvious that the Light has been closed off to Sanctuary.
It’ll be a class in whatever expansion we see Heaven return I’d assume. Just hope that they do a good job when Paladin (w/e) is brought back
Edit: Being a Necro main I sympathize with you some as D3 launches without Necro and, tbh, I felt D3’s Necro missed the mark A LOT so that wasn’t very satisfying. D4’s feels better from a design standpoint but a lot of work is needed on minions from a damage standpoint.
Honestly, I doubt we’re going to get a paladin or crusader of any form; If they were going to go with the “The light’s good, its just the cathedral is corrupt”, they wouldn’t have portrayed the crusaders (The supposedly principled offshoot of the corrupt zakarum) as basically being just as prejudiced and misguided washups in this game, or devoted an entire zone to crapping on the zakarum as being wicked and evil even before Mephisto (pretty much every hawezar quest) while building up other religions in the world as good/right.
I’m getting the impression they’re going to be going with a “Both extremes are wrong!” subversive message, which rubs me the wrong way as its absurdly low hanging fruit and trite (Plus, given how literally 99.9% of all demons we’ve seen have been slavering sociopaths while the vast majority of angels, barring Malthael’s rogue group and inarius have been fairly benevolent, it comes off as hollow). the new spirit class will just be them giving us the paladin archetype but from a “Correct” sanctuary religion instead.
It’s actually the game’s premise since the beginning. I read it that the ultimate good in fact lies within ourselves, the Nephalem.
Even Anu the creator himself, casted away his dark side which proved to be his downfall. The Nephalem is some kind of rebirth of what should be there. It’s also a story about free will since only the Nephalem can choose between Light and Dark, wielding the power of both.
Though what happens so far is that the Eternal Conflict prevailed. It doesn’t help that the Nephalem has been made weak.
Effing HATE paladins and always have. Goody-Goody -Jock-Self-Righteous-Idiots.
BUT I am just me and I know a lot of people want this, so I hope you get your way eventually. Despite your hissy-fit about it.
Crusaders are literally in the game already as NPC’s.
True and probably best side quest.
Ehhh… yeah, I can’t think of why you couldn’t have Crusader due to how the storytelling is done
I’ve been posting this since back then that I’d like to have Tomyris, aka Johanna, to accompany us to Kurast, or the south, instead of being with Lorath again. She’d make the perfect character as a Crusader since their history is tied to Zakarum, Kurast, and by extension, Mephisto himself.
The leak also says that we’ll get Mercs again. If that’s true, then she’ll make an excellent introduction to the system (we’ll be able to customize her by giving her some equipment).
Simple. They all died following that idiot angel.
They are saving it for last. After 5-6 years when the game is more or less dead or dying because people got bored with all the content, expansions etc etc, they go live with Paladin and that will bring everyone back for a while longer.
It’s pretty clever, they can always bank on more profit down the road with this move.
They are in Diablo 2 and 3
The leftists at blizzard dont like anything related to christianity.
