Where has everyone gone?

After 1st week of launch the world of D4 is pretty quiet. I’m rather surprised by this, was hoping to encounter more players to do group quests. Even these forums and postings have slowed to a crawl

Peoples initial hype has died, as many of us were ridiculed for the entirety of last week by casuals for saying so.
The people who arent brain-dead and can put 2 and 2 together to get 4 could see the obvious formula for failure.

This is a console game, balanced for console, limited because of console.
I just dont know why it took more than a day or two for some of these casuals to realize that. Of course, they were spending most of their time white-knighting the forums instead of actually playing their favorite game.

People have jobs. Odds are, like with most games, work week hours will be a little bit of a ghost town but afterwards it’ll pick up. Be heavy on the weekends. It’s like that for pretty much every online game. So if you want to play without the horrendous server lag do it while people are working.

Fastest selling Blizzard game to date. Critical & commercial success. The people enjoying the game are playing it, not crying about it on the forums.

OP’s not seeing anyone because the game is intentionally designed that way. I see people all the time in town or at legion events, world bosses, etc.

You’re delusional if you think the game isn’t very populated currently. There is a reason why every evening since Monday the servers have buckled & queues have been enabled.

The game can’t be that bad since you’re still on these forums explicitly intended to discuss the game.

it always happens in games, you get the big initial rush of players, then that peters out overtime as people move on to different things

the players you retain are typically part of your core audience

people also finished the campaign and there’s no point in progressing to endgame or focusing on doing anything like that because season 1 hasn’t started yet, you’ll see an uptick in the season start, then it’ll peter off again

Cant speak for most, but people seem to just be bored.
I got a huge friendlist, usually 25+ active, most work id imagine.
It used to be the D4 logo all the way down.
More than half of the D4 logos are gone and replaced by other games.
My clan? all 7 people not online for 2 days.

like 5 of my buddies have literally gone back to Heroes of the storm over d4…

I gotta work or I’d be on all day. Not that I’d interact with random players anyway.

From my experience, most Diablo franchise fans rarely do multiplayer content with randoms. So while people are still around, most of use are gunning the world as solo as we can and or doing it with existing friends. We didn’t want forced world share, so we ignore it as much as we can.

Endgame is boring af, but the game is new I can wait until it gets less boring.
Seems like something is missing I don’t don’t know what.

Exact opposite for my friend list. I see nothing but D4. Anecdotes are anecdotal.

Turning off cross play really restricts the number of other players you see in game. I guess a lot of them are playing on console.

Personally, I’m fine with this, since I prefer playing single-player anyways, and wasn’t too keen on this MMO stuff to begin with. From my previous experience, multiplayer is way overhyped, with more bad than good experiences.

There are people still around. It’s just that nobody is talking which is why it feels so empty.

Why any human with a brain would think sales should be a factor in this ever ill never know.
Especially when it doesnt help your argument… at all.

I played since early access, and release…
I know what the hubs looked like, i know what the game looked like.
I failed the last 2 legion events because we didnt have enough people…
Have you been reading the latest topics and reviews? or are you pretending like 90% of the d4 content creators and hype men and making videos about their honest thoughts, and plans moving forward.

Yes… im sure its populated (I like how you said currently) But the game is dropping off at a rapid rate. too fast for a game that wants to monetize itself with cosmetics and expansions dont you think?

I’m a diablo fanboy, i can do what i want with my time. Theres hate-watching.
I’m simply interested in everyones discussions on here, as are you otherwise shoo?

Critical success.

Read to understand rather than to respond.

So you answer with an anecdote. superior, 5000 iq, genius take.

Probably because every business on the planet measures success by sales…

People are playing like I am going to in a moment. Oh and work is still a thing, even in 2023.

Whats that got to do with the game dying?
you cant actually be this 1 dimensional and not think about the brand name…

Initial sales of a huge franchise is not relative to if the game is good or not. Why am i even explaining this to an adult?

100%. Anyone trying to deny this just shows their lack of understanding. People get so triggered because many many people actually like this game and it is a HUGE success.
