I can’t even engage with tormented boss farming end game since I have so little Stygian stones. Was the intention that they only come from 100+ pits? Or that we don’t farm tormented bosses? Was the intention to do them 5-10 times and then be done with them?

I’m confused as well. I have several hundred boss materials and 18 stygian stones. I’ve done 2 ubers this season. After doing 5-10 a 70 level pits and 3 world bosses, I got one stone. What’s the point of these stones anyway? Am I not supposed to earn the right to do tournament bosses by getting my character strong enough?

They don’t just come from pit 100. I farm pit 61 and have received 4 in the last two days. They’re not meant to be farmed. Cause then people would be farming nothing but ubers. Which is already happening now.
Where else do they come from?
Also, what would be bad about farming tormented bosses? That is the purpose of their existence, for mats to be spent and farmed.

The second last or last … not sure anymore which of the two drops you a good chunk of these stones.
The majority of my stones also came from my wolve rep grind with multiple characters.

They are pretty rare I ran about 50 pits yesterday and only got 1. Wish they would drop more though.

They seem to be random rewards. Gotten some from whisper tree, world bosses, and level 80+ nightmare dungeons. But it hasn’t been consistent.

Ah, ok. I’m more of a one character person season kind of guy. I’m already near the cap of heroes since I also dabble in HC.
Seems odd that the meta to end game materials is to spam alt leveling for reputation rewards.
Play fave class for IW rep. Zoom through. Delete toon, Redo.

World boss can drop them and it seems there is a higher chance from them. In the pit I seem to get 2 back to back and then nothing for days.
Yeah, but farming ubers is the end game. If people want to farm ubers all day long, let them. They just want to have some fun. I guess Blizzard does not

Yes. I am confused as well. I takes many days to farm up enough eggs/dolls to have a stack of them anyway and once we do have them there are not enough Stygian stones… In S3 I had an even income of summoning materials all the time, it did not feel grindy at all… but S4 is just a massive grind fest.
Oh well. I guess Blizzard does not want us to interact with Tormented Bosses all that much after all for some reason. We wanted “end game” and they made it so we can’t have that without a bunch of massive amounts of farming (which is boring because all we do is running around one-shotting crap with no risk to ourselves (whispers & distilled fear).
/sigh. Too bad. S4 was looking like a really good Season! It faltered at the finish line Perhaps in S5 we get something better.

i have dropped like 5 from WB and another 5 from completing pits 60+
i get them about 1 in 10 pit runs at 100
you get materials fast if you do WB and Legion events and 3 whisper worth ToW quests. Because at the end they spawn elite monster that drops uber boss materials.
I am aware. It’s not fast. You do one whisper and you get 1 to 2 out of 4 required material to get an egg. That means you’re doing 2-4 whispers for each egg. If you want 50 eggs (a stack) you’re now doing upward 200 whispers (if you’re really unlucky and only get 1 material per whisper). That’s a boatload of boring just running around. If one whisper takes 5 minutes to complete, you’re looking upwards of 16 hours of running around the map).
meh, I came to this game to have some action! not just running around most of the time.
Once you have your eggs and shards and by some miracle you find some stygian stones, you can spend a stack of eggs/shards that took you 30 hours to accumulate on Tormented Duriel for 8 runs(!) which you can complete in about 30-40 minutes.
So… we spend 30 hours farming materials and then spend 30 minutes having the fun. Pathetic and boring.
last 2 times i did WB there spawned 4 elites after each WB kill, each of elites dropped 1-2 materials. On legions there usually spawn 2-3 elites that also drop 1-2 mats
