When does the drip feeding end?

When does the drip feeding bits of content end. The constant lure that Diablo 4 will get better, constant marketing of hype, but little pieces of content scattered through a season, and largely removed from the game, is old and boring. I just wanted an epic Diablo, not a new gen full social media hype, 1% content 99% marketing, costmetic sales platform with reskinned Diablo 3 mmo grind simulator addon and same technical limitation from Diablo 3.

Why come here to “complain” when you can simply just do something else that isnt related to a game you dont enjoy

you make it sound like it’s intentional, like they sit on a bunch of content that’s ready.
i think they just don’t have anything, and their internal processes are just slow af.
it was just released way before it was complete, they had the campaign and that was good enough for them, the rest of the features/content ARPGs usually have had not been done yet.

(obviously new zones/characters from the expansion will be held back until then, but i assume that’s not what you meant)

Vote with feet. They decided to milk the Diablo IP for every last drop they could get. Just move on. Don’t buy D5.

Welcome to Diablo. Your answer is: 10 years from now when the game gets put into maintenance mode.

10 until the game is on life support is generous. I give it 5 counting the year its already had.

Because, all complaints are 1% content and 99% marketing. Gotta get the message out.

Dont be so certain Blizz will make a Diablo 5.

Microsoft might not be willing to let Blizz squander hundreds of millions of dollars on games that set record low review scores and garner hyper-negative PR.

Given their track record, they might get another screw up or two before theyre told to ride WoW into the sunset and lay off everyone else.

i dont think microsoft is gonna wait to long to keep losing money, seasons 4 and 5 will tell

Just look at Halo Infinite and 343. That was the flagship system seller dubbed as a 10 year live service Halo.

They sucked at their job, delayed core features, and lo and behold. Their teams were gutted, and a year in they were no longer funded to make all the DLC they advertised.

And that was Halo, the Microsoft posterchild. Microsoft wont give Blizzard the time of day if they become non viable. It will be a quick shart in the wind, and then itll be over.

Why would you want the adding of content to end?

Depends on the reviews you look at. Professional reviews were generally favorable and high; player reviews, which companies tend to ignore if the game is selling, were the opposite.

Just look at Diablo: Immortal. Bad player reviews yet generating something like $350 million a quarter, which is over a billion a year. Why would Microsoft give that up?

Well, probably because you only get a couple of those before the IP is done.

A decade ago, every Blizz IP was a no brainer to buy into. Its been a slow process, but people no longer consider every Blizz game an insta buy.

Diablo Immortal, WC3 Reforged, OW2 arent just your run of the mill screw ups. Those were truly horrible for the goodwill the company had with fans. D4 wasnt as bad, but given how expensive AAA games are to make, a 10 year Diablo game thats dead a year after launch isnt secure.

Halo Infinite was also a no-brainer and it was only slightly worse than D4. And no where near as bad as the other Blizz games of late.

People who were excited about Kotick leaving and Microsoft stepping in are in for a rude awakening. Microsoft and similar big companies feel nothing about pulling the plug on expensive projects and shuttering studios. Atleast Kotick let his people get away with pissing away the Blizzard name.

I don’t think people want the content to stop, it’s more the fact we just wanted a full game for the full box price. Not a cash shop with a Diablo addon and the promise of more drip feeding content over the years if we pay for it.

The drip feed model works for a lot of casuals. Play the game here and there at odd time frames. There is 3 months until a new change comes around. I just don’t understand this mentality of playing the game only once then let it to rot but still talk about the game without playing it at all.

You are assuming Activision didn’t make cuts to Blizzards production line. News flash, they did. Blizzard continuing to be under Activision under Bobby Kotick wasn’t any better. In fact, it was worse.

Activision Blizzard literally following the lawsuit of mistreatment of employees did its damage and then some.

This is like or not, a fresh start with Activision Blizzard under Microsoft. The games made under Activision’s oversight are not going to change even when moving to Microsoft.

Only the next expansion following Vessel of Hatred will be under Microsoft’s leadership. Plus any games made after.

POE isn’t even Diablo IV’s competition. POE’s was Diablo III. POE II will be Diablo IV’s competition. Same with Last Epoch.

The drip drip drip of content and QOL features ends in about 10 years when you will be able to pick up D4 complete edition with all expansions on sale for $19.99.

Until then, drip drip drip is what you get.

Welcome to modern gaming.
