What’s your worst fear of D IV? Balance, time not respected, nerfs, buffs, end game content, that your build won’t be able to do the content, that only one build can do the content? Is your worst fear that you won’t have the most powerful spec for your class?
Mine is that Blizzard is going to nerf the class/spec I’ve been working on into the ground making my time, effort, and in game currency meaningless in future seasons. IMO this is the thing that bothers me the most. Just when you figure out a way to make something work or get the gear you need the rug is pulled out from under you, it makes me feel like I was cheated.
I don’t care if the nerfs comes at the start of Season 1 as that is when changes should occur. I would like to see Blizzard give us some assurances that this kind of thing is not going to happen during the seasons. Blizzard has had a long history of doing this kind of a thing in Wow, it’s why my wife quit. She had just got all her BIS gear then Blizzard nerfed the main state mid Tier and she lost her raid spot, and all the effort she had done to get that gear was gone.
Having a high ethical bar for respecting the player time and not cheating the player is a must if D IV is going to pull ahead as the flagship for ARPG’s.
Well that has been their past behavior in MMO’s, but not in ARPG’s. If they want to be a competitor in the ARPG market with seasonal ladder races this is a real concern.
That they’ll dumb down the game even more. As for nerfs, it’s about as certain as death and taxes. So enjoy whatever fun builds you have, because it’s only a matter of time until they’re sacrificed on the altar of balance.
Worst fear? Hopefully that was hyperbole, as this is just a video game.
As long as the game is providing entertainment for me personally, I’m good. If it’s not, then I guess it’s time to move on. I have been enjoying the game thus far on the surface level. So I suppose my worst fear is…that I’ll end up losing that enjoyment and interaction where I feel like the money I spent on the game really wasn’t worth it’s weight in value.
My main concerns for D4:
-Arbitrary changes without any consideration for game play impact.
-Disruptive Code Drops
-Lack of Communications announcing game play or skill changes and why
-Lack of Transparency
-Poor Change Control and Planning
my worst fears are the opposite of yours, it’s them not fixing broken damage and the game turns into diablo 3 damage.
for 10 years now people have complained about the absolute ridiculous and stupid damage in that game so they are trying to keep damage reasonable here and people are crying about it.
Seasons has always been about restarting the race and new character. You can choose not to take part at all and continue playing your current characters. The problem is with the current systems like renown and alters of Lilith. No one wants to redo all those stupid collectible gimmicks every reset
The alters are perma buffs even for season chars. In seasons they will just give XP. Renown thou I am pretty sure is reset, but that doesn’t totally matter, you basically get renown on anything you do in the zone areas, so you pretty much get it passively
That they’ll cling to their current design and it will continue to have only 1-2 viable builds per class and the classes will only ever have a tiny selection of spells/skills.
The point being, no one wants to re-collect all that crap. I’ve 100% AC Odyssey and Far Cry 5 and a few other UbiSoft collectathon titles, and some others similar to that, and I can’t be bothered to do it in D4 even once.
they don’t thou… the only people that think this are people who watched youtube videos or maxroll site and think they theorycrafted everything already.
This is the worst thing people are believing atm. Heck today I saw a video of a guy who made a druid build just using basic attacks and he’s destroying WT4 bosses.
The game has not been theorycrafted to even a fraction of what people think it has
