What's your PTR impression?

What do you guys think about “new” features?

IMHO:

So far so bad.

  1. Leveling experience - just bad. Why do we even need this leveling? Just make a button already for making lvl 60 char. Everything is a joke, probably even lower than D3 level.

  2. Itemization, as always, bad. But we didn’t see “runewords” LMAO yet. I’ve done some T3 ubers with my old char, already clear enough that you won’t even pick anything w/o GA, cuz it’s not worth. Still no loot filter.

  3. End-game loop AKa GR(oops sry THE PIT!!) - absolute trash, glyphs upgrade straight up copypasted from D3 with this random chance to get upgrade if you are not doing pit higher than your glyphs by 10 lvls. Literally garbage hamster wheel.

  4. Paragon board - that’s probably the only thing that i liked. The choice began to seem more interesting and significant.

in short imo there is no chance that this xpac will be successful, unless of course they hid something literally incredible in the new content that we don’t have access to.

Please share your thoughts.

Of my few minutes of rolling around in a Helltide on Penitent real quick before I go do some work… GREAT!

Will try out the other stuff later, but so far so good.

The only positive for me atm is group finder and it seems they lowered drop rates but that’s about it, the Paragon change is horrible, what choice? The stats? That’s all that is left

They hid an OP Spiritborn that will annihilate existing OP builds

I just love stat squishes with no other meaningful changes… thanks blizzard at least I got a good year out of this. Seasons 4 and 5 were fantastic no need to drastically switch it up like this now. Even little changes like how they made the map not show what whisper is what when fully zoomed are annoying.

Did you even read the PTR release notes before post ?
Probably not or you didn´t post

Now you choose the frames. As it should be and not as many glyphos as possible. I liked most of what I saw. I still think the leveling is super fast in a few hours at level 60.

Starting out a character from scratch and with no seasonal questlines to break things up, I honestly don’t see anything to do except run Helltides ad naseum. The thing is too is until I reach lvl 50, I’m locked out of anything above Expert so what was already a slog is made even worse by the baby steps.

Too soon to really tell it has been a few hours…
I’m not a streamer and don’t need to rush a video out…

  1. Relogged to get most things to interact with to work. Check.
  2. Characters made nearly a month ago that I feel should have been in their “build” not being there. Check.
  3. Still no access to the forums to properly discuss the matter because of using Gamepass. Check.
  4. Items/what most people want to be testing out gatekeeped on a PTR. Check.
  5. Extremely small character limit for feedback inside PTR itself. Check.

TLDR; exactly what I expected and don’t see the point. Check.

So far - PTR is a cluster.

Blizzard needs to fix bugs, and then do a PTR part deux. 1 week doesn’t seem enough.

It’s a bit of a disaster right now with performance issues and instability. It seems like just about everything you do causes the game to crash.

I don’t get the timegating (which has sadly become Blizz’s mantra) in a PTR of all things. Put the vendors there. Let people buy items and boost then they can go break the game. Nobody wants to go do all the chores associated with getting access to what they will primarily be doing in a final build.

In my very small form last time I put that as my biggest emphasis (last time they actually expected you to go farm everything except for streamers allegedly). It’s a test realm, nobody is gonna bat an eye if you can just get free items off a vendor.

The vendor is there, just won’t be available until Friday as they said. Wednesday up to Friday is meant for leveling purposes. They wanted people to test that part out first, before giving them full access to everything else at endgame.

Then they should have 2x PTRs.

One without character copy. Want to play? Start lv 1.

Second one with a character copy.

PTR just always feels rushed. And despite known issues, players have little to no idea what actually gets fixed prior to the live release.

Yeah I saw that, but in reading leveling is quick. Idk I lasted 5 minutes and I know I hit 51. If leveling is quick, focus on the later stuff. Then again they broke quests and had to disable content in their other game Tuesday so maybe it is for the best. I just don’t feel like people should need to test a leveling experience and definitely not when it is a week total. I also imagine you would have plenty happy to just make alts to rebuild characters.

It’s very obviously an outdated build which again to me defeats the purpose as is. If this is what they have for release next month, I would be very concerned if I got the xpac.

I agree with you.

@Conceited I also agree with you.

I’m not saying it’s right, just saying what they’ve said. They should’ve done things differently. Had two different PTR’s on separate weeks entirely. One to test leveling and one to test the endgame systems. However that’s not reality, and this is what we have. So I’ll test what I can, when I can and give feedback, that’s all.

Still highly recommend no one purchase the expansion yet until it actually comes out and they see the problems and bugs first hand through other people. There’s nothing wrong with waiting for the game to come out, I’ve been a huge advocate of this since they gave us pre-orders.

Agreed. All of my frustrations really boil down to what this industry has become.

I don’t hate the game per-say, I detest the way the business is run. It’s made worse because so much of the playerbase enables it. The reality is even those willing to vote with their wallets probably won’t be enough sadly or just are saying they won’t buy it.

I was adamantly against the whole “blizz doesn’t respect my time” phrase people kept throwing out there until I realized it was said, by Blizzard, in one of THEIR live feeds (for WoW mind you). I honestly thought it was just the playerbase. Nope “we want to respect our players’ time” was said by a developer. Of course it gets parroted back now.

Then the constant mediocre delivery and walking back things they said.

Add in the fact that they announced “85% play solo” and put a ton of focus on a group play feature? I know more about it than most of what is coming, and to allocate the kind of resources they did to it is comically dichotomous to me.

I digress though, back to the PTR-

It’s fine and yes they absolutely said what it was going to feature. I just don’t get left with the impression they care when the strategy is to allow all of 3 or so days to test the content most of the playerbase will be interested in and doing in the live version.

I agree this is something that should be live for 2 to 3 weeks minimum if not a month to properly flush out all the bugs through mass play testing.

Overall I’m not unhappy with game play at the moment but not level 60 yet so I will hold off until maxed out and have access to testing everything.
