What's the point of WT2?

I mean if you are leveling to 50, it is way faster to do it in WT1. There is no difference in drop quality apart from some more gold and bit more XP. (which you don’t farm by picking it from the ground anyway).
You want to be in WT3 for sacred items, and in WT4 for ancestrals. Masochism?

I used it on my alts to get even a tiny bit of a difficulty early on because i went through wt1 with zero challenge on my main. People should be able to choose wt3 or wt4 when they roll a new character.

Because people are not patient and cheat, we have WT3 and WT4 gated. Until that changes or the game changes enough that it does not matter, this system will continue.

Please explain. The cheating is easier. resetting the dungeon timer (it is supposed to take 1 minute to reset) by breaking and reforming the party means that you can run the dungeon twice before the timer would reset. Similarly, people are forming parties in order to get around the Capstone Dungeon. So, Blizzard “nerfs” stuff when, in reality, the things that people were doing was nowhere near what was intended.

People seem to have forgotten that D3 started with four difficulty levels. The never ending Torment levels happened after years and years of play. So, it may take 5 years before we have the robust Torment system in D4. Also, apparently, some people believe that the game should be nothing but defeating Final Bosses in under a minute - even though the character is Level 15. Since this does not happen, the game is too difficult. On the other hand, players between the ages of 16 and 25 are steamrolling through content because they are prime gaming age. These people are complaining the game is too easy. Neither group is right but both are very vocal about changes that are years away.

Split farming dungeons with a group of 4 all day at the start of the game or new season is much faster on WT2 than 1.

That is one of the dungeon exploits that should get fixed.

Why would WT2 be masochism? WT2 is so easy that WT1 shouldn’t even exist and WT2 should’ve just been the standard difficulty.

You don’t even need to “exploit”, even though it isn’t. Just split run one dungeon then go to the next one and do it again, then go back to the one you were doing before. Repeat until level 50.

Split farming normal dungeons in a group will always be the quickest way to get to level 50 to start the end game.

It is not just about efficiency. For some of us, it is enjoyment. With all information available on June 1, I lasted only 5 levels on WT1 until I decided “scrw it” and moved to WT2 for more challenge.

I’ve met people who are struggling even with WT1, probably new to the genre or gaming as whole and I don’t think scaling helps either. Usually they could just outlevel content, here they can’t even do that lmao. Poor dude was struggling with lvl 40ish mobs and was still in Act 1

Ok yeah you’re right there probably should be a story mode difficulty for those kinds of players, just to be inclusive.

Hopefully they let people start the campaign on WT3 or WT4 moving forward though.

There are four types of people struggling with WT1. Totally newbie is one - this means have not played video games at all as well as those new to a genre.

Ager is the next category - this means you are above or below the prime gaming age which is 16-25. Below 16, you are still learning and above 25, there is gradual decrease in ability to play.

Non-tutorials are the next category - this means as much as possible, they skip the stuff that tells you about the game. So, when they encounter a final boss, they have no idea why it is so difficult. It is because they love AoE and CC but the bosses are partially immune. They cannot face tank these bosses but they still try.

The disabled - which means there is something physically wrong with them. Back problems, wrist injuries, etc. fall into these category. Part of the reason why we do not have WASD is it makes wrist problems worse.

Technically, there is a fifth category but this one is when more than one of the previous categories apply. I fall into this as I am Disabled and Ager.

People seem to forget that D3 started with 4 difficulty levels. All those Torments levels were added later - years later. So, I suspect that Torment levels will be added but it will not be soon enough for some people. Similarly, we should be able to start the game at WT5 at some point later on.

Wt2 is faster since with a decent build youll clear nearly as fast and get 3x the mob xp

This is only true if you’re running a build that isn’t rolling through monsters just as fast in WT2. There weren’t many instances where I could see my pulverize druid needing to slam the ground more often than he already was just cause he was in WT2.

If you do not fall into any of my categories, WT2 should be your start point. Most people will fall into the Ager category but should be able to handle most stuff in WT2. They may have to go down to WT1 when facing bosses or strongholds but that should be about it.

What is the point of anything?

Funny, I thought there was no point to WT1, and never touched it.

I didn’t want a cakewalk playthrough on my campaign, though I still got it @ WT2.

If you’re coming in on an alt with renown/lilith statues etc then WT2 is pretty much just as fast as WT1 and gives more exp

I started on WT2 and it was fine, not sure why I would ever play WT1

apart from some more gold and bit more XP

I mean you kind of answered your own question.
