What's the point of playing D4 if you don't like to min/max

for the outcome. Not everyone can theory craft correctly and precisely. But in the end, we are all reaching to the same outcome.

And I find that just weird. I choose a build based on what I think looks cool, what I want to play, or is just funny. I had a Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough were I forced myself to only use grenades, shotguns, fists, and motorcycles. Every other weapon or vehicle I found was off limits. Destroyed or sold. No matter how much better it was than what I was using. Elden Ring playthrough where I could only use Dragon powers… It’s a lot more fun than you might think to play through a game handicapped rather than optimal. You should try it sometime.

Yeah i agree with OP it’s an important part for every ARPG.
As for me for example min/maxing in D3 just doesn’t look interesting. After you’ll got your 10000% buff for set min/maxing feels insufficient. But for example if will get small buffs in D4 while min/maxing i’ll gladly do it. So will see.

Fun is subjective and a game can give several targets for people that they find fun without going for everything the game has to offer.

Some might want to play for the story only, some might want to play just to relax and kill some stuff. Some might see lvl 100 as a good enough target to reach, some others may say lvl 100 and just the aspects they want is enough and others want to get all the perfect stats for their character.

I have played a lot of ARPGs where i never fully maxed out a character even once.

haha, cool. I am also Cyberpunk fan… have over 700 hours in it, waiting for the expansion now.

But yea, I don’t know , maybe I should try to play differently other than what is the most optimal sometimes. Haven’t found the incentive to do that just yet…

I have learning problems, i dont like following anyone’s guides at all, too complicated, blizzard also said this “Play your way in diablo 4” YOU can do anything you want in this game.

my fomo is telling me I can play my own way but I’d probably miss out on some damage here and there lol

I will play the game through, probably play a season or two. I will eventually grow bored, then delete where it is stored. Then I am off to to a new game, and do it all over the same.

Not a heavily attached to game huh ? even if it is your favorite game ?

My wife played the same game for 8 years. I have a guy on my battlenet friend list that has pretty much only played D3 for the past 12 years.

Me on the other hand, I’ll be lucky to play a game for 6 months. And I’ll probably play 4 other games during that time as well. I play a new game about every month or 2.

I don’t even know how many games on Steam I own that I’ve never even played…

but you play multiboxing right? it shouldnt make you that bored forever

Yes, I had been playing SWTOR since launch but the new changes just did not sit well with me. DDO played since launch but feat upkeep was beginning to be… unamusing. There are two feats but you must complete new content in order for the feat to continue. I guess that means it stopped being my favorite but…

I got too much RL going on to worry about a “favorite” game. I play one for a bit, until I get bored and by that time, there is a new game to play. The problem with this going main stream is there is so much content bloat. There are more games to play than I have time, so I just play one until I get bored and move on.

Longest game I’ve played was WoW… about 12 years.

I will only MB if I am forced to PvP. I may even MB if I get bored, just to wreck try hard PvPers.

I tried SWTOR as well when it was released, didn’t sit well with me, I only played it several weeks then dropped it.

Min maxing takes a lot more time and research than the majority of the playerbase are willing to do. Most people are just going to buy the game, and hop in while picking what they think looks cool, playing through the story and calling it quits.

Ignorance is bliss for the majority that will be playing this game to where they don’t even understand what their character would even be capable of and instead just pick talents they want and play the game.

Players like us that enjoy min maxing and playing at a high level are in the minority 100%

I don’t think I will fully max out a character too. That is why there is the incentive to keep going. When that incentive is gone, from either becoming too out of reach, that is when I’ll likely lose interest.

if you do not skip through the dialogue and cutscenes, the stated 150 hours to level 100 is about right. Gear, sleep, etc. will effect this number.

If that were only true for me.
My plan is to “Do My Thing” to start.
“Maybe this Time ~ This Game will be Different.”
Try, try & try again. Hit the brick wall like I always do.
Adjust, tweak, stare at the tree, gear and boards, “back to square 1, 2, 3…”.
Brick wall again and again.

Eventually, I’ll refer to the MetaMagicians out there.
Laugh at the fact I didn’t see countless obvious things staring me in the face.
Be happy I was at least on the right track or “close” to correct.
Make some adjustments and carry on, albeit “efficiently” and/or “optimized”.

I’m well aware of my place in gamer hierarchy.
Try as I might, I couldn’t theorycraft my way out of a wet paper bag and my builds, while fun, are often off the mark and sometimes just a hot mess

I must have some as well. Couple too many severe head injuries maybe!
I’ve never, ever been able to grasp “Game semantics” and make the proper connections. ie. MTG - I just… miss the obvious.
Good luck and Have Fun!!
That’s my goal - Fun overall.
