With so few of these uniques ever being found what’s the point of them even existing?
If it apparently takes 5 million played hours to even get one then they functionally don’t even exist.
For perspective the rarest unique item in Diablo 2 (Tyrael’s Might) used to take upwards of 10000 hours to farm and was generally considered only obtainable by trading or by botting.
These items in D4 are so rare finding 1 of them would be equivalent to finding 500 of D2’s rarest item and you can’t even trade for it.
So what’s the point? They shouldn’t even be defined as unique. They’re mythological.

This was a bad idea and hope I see it fixed.

Builds work without them you know ? It is the matter of how much you want to spend time on this.

It’s highly likely that these uniques will become less rare when WT5 is added.

That is just over 570 years of 24/7 nonstop farming for the average joe to find one.
Think I’ll never find one now…

I’m curious where people are getting these figures for exactly how rare the items are. They are rare, for sure, but how do people know exactly how many years it’d take? Have Blizz officially listed how many hours have been played at level 85+ since release?
I must’ve missed it if so, wouldn’t mind a link

Players who racks up 200 hours a month still need a carrot on the end of the stick as they complete that takes an average player a full week in a day. If you don’t waste your adult life exclusively on the game just focus on having fun with what is more accessible, you will have a better experience for it.

I found a Butcher’s Cleaver (or Carver?) yesterday and it was trash so I salvaged it. I get the feeling the drop rate is gated behind level as that dropped when I was 62.

They’re going to be adding new items and uniques with each season. I don’t think having a few ultra rare uniques is such a huge deal if they’ll be frequently adding new items you can work towards with higher drop rates.

I’ve been in threads where players are asking for even more rare items like Shako and Doomhammer, complaining there’s not enough of them. Their reasoning was the rush they get when they find them, carrots on a stick, etc. One of them even discussed that they enjoyed having hunted an item in D2 for 20 years that still hasn’t dropped for them. Um, I don’t get it either…
On a side note, I used to play a ton of Marvel Heroes, which was designed by Brevik. I spent weeks farming a specific dungeon boss (I think it was the Hood) for an item to use on my Silver Surfer. When it finally dropped, I was elated. Then I saw it had low rolls and was worse than what I had on Surfer. I sold it, stopped playing for months.

If you’re not sat on a waste bucket with Mountain Dew intravenously keeping you on life support for the singular purpose of farming these items well into the year 2200… Then you don’t deserve them.
Though in all seriousness, with the millions of hours played combined across all regions and only three confirmed drops, these things might as well not exist as far as seasonal play is concerned.

Not sure, doesn’t make sense especially if you can’t trade them

Because I truly believe Blizz team don’t understand.
In my opinion Blizzard failed to realize the odds are ADDITIVE.
Let me explain
The chance of finding 1 shako in D4 is equivalent to finding 500 of D2’s rarest items.
In D2, there were actually 500s of uniques worth farming. So, we would end up finding a few of those if we farmed consistently
In D4, there is only Shako & Grandfather. There aren’t 500 different uniques to find.
Flawed maths.
Plus the obvious nonsense that finding an account bound ultra unique is meaningless but that’s another story

How many of those hours were actually played on WT4?
And where are you getting your numbers? How do you know the exact rarity of Shako or Grandfather? Do you have a link to your maths, or the source of the drop rates?
How many of those hours were actually played on WT4?
I don’t know and it’s unclear whether 5 million hours is accurate but only like 2 or 3 of these items have been confirmed to have been found so whether it’s 5 million hours or 100,000 hours it makes no difference.
Why do you think I’m the world want 1 of 1 s in anything? Do the math homie. Logic.
People complain 'bout certain Uniques being super rare in D4?
Tell them go to play D2… xd
You’re failing to understand the point of those items.
Part of the appeal of Diablo is having chase items. Being ultra scarce and requiring a lot of luck to get them after playing a lot of hours while being fueled by hope is a good thing. Making you to lose hope at all isn’t.
