What's the point of Cosmetics when you're invisible 90% of the time?

The one thing I was really really really enjoying about Diablo 4 over Diablo 3 was the fact that you actually played as your character.

In Diablo 3, every class has a shapeshift skill (Bone Armor, Epiphany, Akarat’s Champion, Archon, Wrath of the Berserker, etc), that completely replace your character model with a new non-customizable one.
Since you can get so much Cooldown Reduction in that game, you have your main skills up nearly all the time.

So I was really liking the fact that I actually got to see my character model that I spend 30~40 minutes transmoging an outfit for in the wardrobe.
That is, of course, until I found a certain Mythic shroud that’s used is basically every endgame build.

The worst part is that you’re not even using the Shroud of False Death for the Stealth part, you just use it for the free massive +1 to all Passive skills.
Being forced to turn Invisible just a side effect that doesn’t majorly affect your build.

It’s the best item in the game.

That first hit on a boss can be quite massive. It also works in periods where you need to dodge mechanics, then return with a big hit. S7 mechanics dodging wasn’t as needed due to the witch power. But outside of that, I found value in the Stealth.

What do you mean invisible 90% of the time?

If you want to just look at your character, do it in town.

If you want to see your character in action, the stealth goes away after you attack anyway.

When you’re afk’ing in town.

Part of the reason (whether you guys like to admit it or not/Realize it or not) is that…

Those who buy skins not only buy it for the Buyers enterainment/fantasty, but to ALSO show off to others,

“Hey, Look at the skin I just bought, pretty cool right?”.
Is that “show offy” Lol Yes it is, but for some that’s part of the reason why they buy skins, it’s to “SHOW OFF”.
The SOFD obviously limits that to a degree, Especially waiting for world boss fights.

If anything this should fall under “options” when it comes to a players view.
I mean if the player themselves want to see their skin with out any “affects” they should,
but at this point it’s w/e.

in my 4k monitor, the character is only as big as a thumb, so even if all the skins were free, it still wouldn’t bother me to keep changing them.

If i see people at worldbosses or other events and want to show of my nicely done Lara Croft outfit this is my rota:

  • hello/greetings
  • halt / dont go any further
  • i swap shroud into normal chest piece
  • look

Its a valid point. The Shroud does make any cosmetic choice largely useless. Plus 1.

Some people have more money than brains.

After they read this there will be an invisible skin in the cash shop.

Ohh thats nice. I wonder how it will look like
Hopefully invisible effects included :see_no_evil:

So, you do buy cosmetics then.

Because you spend 90% of the game standing at the blacksmith.

I never bought anything from in game shop yet. I don’t even like transmog system in games but I’m forced to use it because default itemization is dumb and makes character look like clown because every armor piece has different color.

I prefer rpg feeling of equipping new armor and it looks good on character but for that most of appearance should be taken only from the chest piece. Having multiple armor slots in equipment breaks it.

Try the tint system. You can really get some nice looks without buying anything.

Neither D3 nor D4 have I used a shape-shift ability on any class I play. Now I don’t play every class nor every build, but to an extent, this seems like a problem you’re making for yourself, and to my knowledge (correct me if I’m wrong) none of those transformations have 100% uptime.

My issue is that a couple of my transmogs that are drop-only are gone, and while my current appearance has stuck, I can’t change anything without losing them. I have read others have lost stuff they paid for, too.
