Whats even the point of super uniques?

Ive yet to see anyone make an actual argument defending this without wrongly pointing to how rare d2 items were (not even nearly as rare as the d4 uniques)

If an item is found by only 2 people every ladder it essentially doesn’t exist in the game, why even have it.

Theres no fun to be had with a chase item that is so astronomically rare you have to grind for 10 years to maybe see it. If you think youll ever see it yourself youre delusional

no point at all.

And ofc anyone who defend this has 0 ARPG experience, probably D3 fanboys.

to have chase items u cant actually chase and that like 5 people in the world will ever see.

Nah, it’s just more likely they don’t understand probability, scale, and middle school math. HUMANS are really really bad at understanding big numbers.

The items are far to rare. You could spend several life times playing 24 hours a day farming for them and never see them.

no idea. I loved how in D2 when you found a unique it made you want to lvl an alt to use it… like no one made a poison nova necro until they got their hands on a deaths web. or making a barb after getting the runes for grief.

now you find a unique but since they are just for your class and could be for a different spec you just feel bad about trashing it or it takes up stash space because you think you may use it someday

Yeah I read somewhere it takes like 8000 years of playtime to start getting to the point where you are having a decent likelihood of seeing it drop.

As opposed to POE’s Mirror of Kalandra that’s like a once in 2,000 hours item.

It’s horrible design, but at this point it’s a tired topic. You will have a few clueless imbeciles come in here and try to defend it in some incoherent way, but it won’t be anything worth reading or responding to. Blizzard knows this is stupid. It’s on them to fix their game in a meaningful way where they don’t need to pull stunts like this to try to squeeze empty engagement.

Pretend that the game has some form of loot chase

it does not.

No trading has a big impact here too, when I was leveling I had like 3 duplicate vasilys and couldnt even GIVE one to my druid friend I was playing with.

Just feels bad having to sell/salvage because his luck isnt as good as mine

Well with trading it becomes more of a thing. But since there is none.

absolutly not, it’s not about trading at all.

Im pretty sure when d2r first launched someone did a SSF speedrun in around 500 hours. Not sure if that included all runes or not but goes to show that a lot of d2 ultra rares are not that insane compared to d4

to be special, just like everybody else

it’s not that hard to get all runes in single player via LK

Doesnt LK max out at Ber? But yes even with runes if youre playing that much you can still find a cham or zod (Ive never had a zod personally) But there are hundreds up for trade every ladder

yeah it maxed on ber, but after that they make enigma and pitzerker and it’s just a matter of time to get all you need for holy grail.

If you’re talking about Shako, then yes. Why would I want an item that I have to grind 1000 levels (scaling) worth of post 100 experience to acquire? I’ve found like 7 esu, 5 lam esan trash, bunch of penitents, couple flamescars, the fireball staff a few times, fireball gloves too many times… none of those are items that I necessarily want even if I used the corresponding skill. Even found that weird amulet that looks like it’s supposed to be for arc lash but falls miles short of a +2 devouring blaze 2 defensive movement speed cdr with a control aspect.
The only thing I enjoy using is Raimant’s. Seems too good to not use, actually. I like how Iceheart’s sound but in reality you get destroyed without Disobediance aspect on pants that have multiple dr rolls/dodge/life.
Does that ring with core skill damage really exist?
Does Shako really exist?

I’ve had alot of those, but I also put in a lot of hours in D2. Those runes at least you have a realistic chance to get them, unlike some D2 uniques which are so rare they might as well not exist at all, because as others have said - chase items, the proverbial carrot on a stick chase.

The same could be said for raids in WoW, over the years with perhaps <10% of the playerbase ever actually seeing one of the raid bosses, let alone taking it down and even WoW has its chase items which are so rare, they are like 0000.1% drop rate like the infamous Deathcharger’s Reins because Blizz loves it super low percentage drop rates.

yeah, let’s loot BiS on the first NightMare + 0 run !

It should drop ONLY BiS, with ONLY perfect stats !!

Game will be so fun !
