Every time I alt-tab, the game crashes and I get to wait in queue (45+ min currently). This didn’t happen in the early access beta. I assume this is due to making changes this week and introducing more bugs. Not impressed 
I had no problems alt-tabbing out of the game to check on something.
I have done it 3 times and it has crashed every time. Running on Radeon 7900 XTX. Didn’t happen last weekend on the same machine. I’m noticing another thread with the same issue on the forums because I have time to check the forums 
i made a post recently about crashing as well. I had issues during the closed beta with crashing as well. Today i waited 45 minutes to play and then the game crashed and im in another 1 hour long queue. Just let us play offline and stop queue times.
What fixed that for me, pressing Alt + enter then alt tabbing or you hit alt + enter then minmize the window like you would a browser window.

Does this only happen when your in game?
I’ve constantly been alt-tabbing back and forth from Character creation and Queue (which I am now back in after got stuck at end of character creation).
delete d4 folder in documents fixes this

Yes, I’m only running one monitor right now and I think I was running fullscreen (not windowed). Crashes every time. I’m not going to try again though lol.
I would have to alt-tab to delete the documents folder, but when I stop playing I’ll try that, thank you.
I think it has something to do with full screen, try running in window.
I’m getting the same issues on the same card.
I’ve been running in windowed fullscreen, no problems alt-tabbing (rtx 2060 super)
I’m thinking it’s a Radeon thing as I’m getting reports that NVidia cards aren’t having this issue. FYI
No issue here either (using Nvidia) however I use Cntr-Win-Tab to move between…
I can confirm that this does happen on Nvidia cards (3080 here) and that using Alt-Enter to switch to windowed mode allows you to safely tab out. Haven’t tried the documents folder fix yet.
Thanks for the info. I switched to windowed(fullscreen), but I’m not willing to try with the queues the way they are. I’ll try later if queues settle down and report back.
Using Alt +tab or having my monitor go to sleep caused the game to crash for me. I am using an Nvidia card.
This fixed it for me…must be something in the local preferences file.
Had this problem since I started the game today, fully repeatable - was fine last weekend.
The “delete folder” fix may only be temporary… has been reported in another thread that once you get back into the game, it recreates the folder and alt-tab starts crashing again.
UPDATE: I alt-tabbed while playing Windowed(Fullscreen) and didn’t crash. The issue appears to only happen when playing in Fullscreen. So if you are having this issue, change to Windowed(Fullscreen) and it hopefully will work fine. Definitely a bug, but to get you through the beta . . .
I had to scan/repair the game client and it resolved the issue. But then I get lobby unavailable (error 397000) once I get through queue D:
