What weapon for Necro?

I belive there are small breakpoint frame differences between faster and slower weapons. Like casting with a wand at 1.2 aps is frames faster than casting with a scythe. Though a 1h sword is in the middle, it also has chd passive.

Maxroll builds are showing 1h scythes which is both slowest and with life on kill (bad passive?).

Any thoughts of what weapon type is best/optimal?

Are 1h wands and 2h swords the best?

2H sword for max damage and a 200% aspect
1H Scythe for a little sustain, CDR and another aspect

I don’t think frame time latency is even a consideration since this game isn’t competitive. It’s just the all around best choices for the large majority of people.

Most of the build guides are saying a two handed sword is where it’s at. Unfortunately for me, I can’t seem to find one that beats what I have. But I keep looking.

Dude isn’t even strong enough to pick up the 2H Sword.

I’ll always use a 2H Scythe because everything else looks stupid.

Pure minions have 2H sword because it’s faster than 2H scythe. Shadow summoner uses 1H+offhand for more aspects to squeeze into the build.

But what 1her is ideal? Wand for the 1.2 aps and lucky passive or sword at 1.1 with crit dmg? Or a 1.0 asp 1h scythe with sustain?

I’m thinking sword but wand might be in contention.

Wand for the LHC or scythe for LOK.

You absolutely want the 2x Blighted aspect, though. I can’t think of any aspect I’d put on an offhand.

Well in pushing dps is not as importat as survivabilty. You can’t deal damage if you are dead. So you are putting deffensive aspects on. Like Shielding Storm.

At some point you will be one shot in the pit regardless how defensive you’re built. On the other hand, the boss can’t kill you if it’s dead.

If you cut Blighted in half and don’t use Unyielding Commander at all, that’s a huge damage loss.

Yeah you realy don’t want to get there early.

Some builds seem to favor the offhand for massive cooldown reduction for like perma bone storm to apply Shadowblight.

I’m not that build but am working towards it when I cap out in the Pit.

Go into your character stat screen. You will find your average weapon damage there, which is the basis for your damage multipliers.

925 2H Scythe: 3269-4903 weapon damage = 4086 average weapon damage. With 0.9 attack per second, thats 3677.4 damage per second.

925 2H Sword: 2942-4412 weapon damage = 3677 average weapon damage. With 1 attack per second, thats 3677 damage per second.

The 30% additive critical damage increase on the 2H Sword is almost no damage increase at all. If you have an additive damage multiplier of 15x and increase it to 15.3x, thats a 2% increase in the additive damage multiplier pool. Its nothing, especially when you add all other stand alone multipliers on top, then its under 1%.

And then you have the fact that the big weapon attacks in the game don’t factor in your attacks per second at all, so the higher base attack damage on the 2H Scythe is the clear winner. Big Blood Golem attack will do more damage with 2H Scythe.

Maxroll is wrong. Even Macrobioboi says Scythe 2H is better, its just that he doesn’t write all the Necro guides.

My biggest issue with pit 100+ is the last 25-50% of the bosses. Dodging every shadow clone attack while also chipping away at the boss is hard. You will need crazy amounts of ehp to survive those attacks and it seems easier to burn the boss down.

For the cool down based golem you want the hardest hitting weapon. For mages your weapon choice doesn’t really matter, though. I do enjoy the life on kill when farming hell tides, however. It’s nice to just stand there and not die.

You know that your character carries the 2h sword just fine. Are you talking about the loading screen pose? :joy:

No guide ever really spelt out why scythe was better. It makes sense now. Thank you!

Given dps average is the same, it will always be the slower weapon that has the advantage for the bigger one shot hit builds.
