Hello everyone, i’m currently waiting for the expansion VoH to go on sale before purchasing it, which means i don’t have access to Nahantu, Runewords or Mercenaries, so i would like to know what should i focus on progressing? i’ve already completed the campaign and i’m currently paragon 56. Should i focus on Nightmare Dungeons and upgrading my paragon glyphs or what? Thanks.
If you’re playing outside campaign, not having the expansion is only preventing you from getting runes and playing as Spiritborn. You won’t have access to Undercity, but it doesn’t have any rewards you can’t get elsewhere. So same with/without, with that minor difference. Pick what you want. EDIT: and mercs
Equipment - Helltides/Hordes
Glyph Levels - Pit
Uniques/Mythic Uniques - Bosses
XP - Hordes/Pit
Masterworking Mats - NMDs/Hordes
Keys/Temper Manuals (unless you have all yours) - Whispers/Helltides (You can get these anywhere, but these are good sources)
i dont have the xpac either and its rough. I tried playing with my godson but so much stuff is in the new area, you almost need to get the xpac to enjoy the game.
I’m holding out until Diablo 5 or when they release an expansion with a paladin/crusader.
I don’t have VoH, & have never seen a reason to get it; not having it hasn’t decreased my “enjoyment” of D4 in the slightest.
at paragon 56, it is better to focus on helltide for the dense xp to level up and the variety of materials to pick up, along with whisper tree missions and blood maiden loot, all these to expand your paragon boards for tougher content.
IMO,
You should buy VoH for a much better experience.
Many events support you better, you could buy the normal package and it is completely fine. I find Runes and UnderCity event are quite important in builds and it supports quite well.
Moreover, you will have the opportunity to fight the new boss in S8: Harbinger of Hatred.
I think you should focus on farming GA items and getting exp points first with Helltide, Headhunt and do NMD to get tempering materials.
When you have 4 or 5 paragons boards, you will upgrade Glyphs later.
If I’m not remembering wrong, this boss has a shared loot table with other bosses… if so, probably not urgent for OP, unless they value the interaction itself (I suspect it’s secondary to a sale price).
But my hunch is that VoH/bundle will go on sale quite frequently in the coming months anyway, on rotation across the various platforms.
Mid-2026 IMO, brother/sister. But if you’re looking for a deal, chances are it won’t get discounted for a few months afterward… the more successful the longer it takes, probably. But maybe the “Paladin expansion” will be so impressive it’ll be worth full price. One can dream.
I have no plans to purchase the expansion, and while I don’t play the campaign…the best thing to focus on is just leveling to 60 (which you said you were at paragon 56 so…done). Then getting into T1. From there just run NMD to get some obducite going and start looking for good gear to MW. Temper everything, it costs nothing…but hold off on MWing until you have something GA at least. You can MW other stuff if you need to progress as the early costs are really not that big, but it can feel like a waste.
I run the helltides and colored helltides, and TOW. And I try to get the seasonal board done. And periodically try the next pit to level my glyphs. And this is the loop till you are eventually in T4…when you get there is somewhat build dependent.
You can also run the ladder bosses to score uniques if your build needs any.
The first 4 levels are so cheap, I’d recommend just getting everything to that point ASAP.
Personally, I get everything to 8 as soon as I can without worrying about how bad the item is. It makes a big difference, but if that’s too much, 4 is good, too.
The bigger hurdle to moving up the torments faster, imo, is armor and resistances. Focus hard on those and I find I’m in T3 in no time.
I actually spend more time in T1 getting the GA gear I need and Uniques I think are good enough. Then I can zip through T2 and T3 pretty quickly.
Nope, I dont mind paying good money for a good product. I hope someday Diablo 4 becomes at least good again soon.
Go mow a few lawns or something. Recycle some cans. Ask mom for more allowance. Good Grief kids.
Unsolicited advice, to a person who is likely of ‘advanced age’, and whose spending habits & financial situation (and physical condition) you know nothing about… just another day at “say things you wouldn’t say to a stranger in person, b/c our brains weren’t evolved to function well on the Internet”.
I’m guessing your account is newish in the game.
If so, get the skill and paragon points from each region for your account if you don’t already have them.
