I finished the campaign and reached level 50. I am confused how this game progresses after level 50. What should be my next step? Not sure why the campaign ends halfway through the game?

So all you do is run dungeons and do side quest to level another 40 levels? How boring!

Raise your world tier to 3 by completely the capstone dungeon. That will open up new activities, like helltides, legion events, world bosses, whisper tree events, nightmare dungeons, and echo bosses. These should provde you with additional challenge and goals to complete.
Also, once you hit the higher tiers, you’ll find your build options open up a bit. New aspects will start dropping. Uniques will start dropping. You’ll open up new paragon boards and glyphs to level.
It’s also a good opportunity to track down and complete the side quests, dungeons, strongholds, and reknown you haven’t completed. Those Lilith altars won’t discover themselves!

No problem! The capstone dungeon to get to tier 3 is at the Cathedral of Light in Kyovashad. After you complete it, you need to go to the big statue in the center of Kyovashad and raise the world tier. All of you will have to be at the tree to raise the tier. Party leader should initiate the tier change.
Side quests for the new activities should start appearing after that.
And be careful in the capstone dungeon! It can be tough if you aren’t careful.
Around level 70, another capstone dungeon should appear, allowing you to get access to tier 4 for more challenges. Good luck, and have fun!
