Combat log or a dps meter? I would pay them for it. A global chat? Sure, i could be convinced. Point is, you can add things to be bought and its okay to paywall it because things like a dps meter or global chat doesnt have a negative effect on gameplay (as made obvious by being 8 seasons deep).
Instead of making skins that a majority of people wont buy, why not just focus on making and selling add-ons? How many people have to buy a dps meter for, say, $5, to turn a profit? Missing out on money here.
A dps meter wouldnt be P2W, and i would never advocate selling something that could provide an in-game advantage.
Well, they arent allowing individual creation of add-ons, and im tired of not having things like non-RMT AH, dps meters and other crap that is a quality of life. If it cant be added by others, then just make it and charge for it (as long as it doesnt provide an in-game advantage, i.e., just pay to not grind)
We see this suggestion pop up every now and then. I just have to ask, are there any Diablo-like games out there with a built in DPS meter? If not, why do you think that is? Just something to think about.
i believe they were at $150 million when their game hit 1 billion revenue. People buy this stuff. Also, didn’t a horse skin in WoW outsell StarCraft 2?
You have seen petitioning for DPS meters, but i doubt you have seen someone advocating for add-ons to be made, even if the devs end up selling them. We cant run scripts for add-ons for those of us that want them for personal QoL, so therein lies a business opportunity for Blizz
Good question! Probably not, but if it incentivizes them to know that people would likely pay for it, then they should add some QoL improvements through purchased add-ons. Also, posts like this get visibility, so maybe shareholders will become aware of this and just force the devs to make it because its easy money.
Strong disagree, but i can see why you feel that way. End of the day, you are no worse off for not having it (8 seasons have proved that). Same if they added a non-RMT AH–i havent sold anything in game or on diablo trade and have still cleared over 3 billion gold playing only weekends, so it just lessens your grind, nothing more
I admire your optimism even if I don’t share it. Now I don’t see them ever making a DPS meter for the game myself. The incentive to pay for features not involving cosmetics wouldn’t sit with the community as a whole, regardless if it’s a dps meter or not.
Also I can’t think of any games that add features such as these through a paywall. More inventory space sure, but basically what amounts to a QoL feature such as something that tracks your damage just seems a little far fetched.
I’m not saying they couldn’t do it of course, any company could, I just think they wouldn’t out have fear of backlash. It would be like BMW’s new additional options you have to pay to unlock for their cars now. Which is a monthly service fee mind you.
That’s almost as troll as the meeting when…
Lead: “So we’re going to give classes more weapons & spread things out”
…nods of approval at the proposal and list presented.
Random Dev: “hey um… there’s nothing for Sorc on the list and they have the smallest Weapons pool to begin with.”
Lead: … “You know that’s a good point. Maces, we’ll give them Maces.”
hah =P but if you think about it… do we reaaaaallly need a dps metre? i mean its not like we got complex class rotations, or boss mechanics thatd require some wow mythic raid like optimization you know.
I mean, i also advocated for a training room dummy with the resilient tag and world boss health bar (could even just be called a world boss dummy) so i can better gauge my damage and fine tune it. As it stands, the boss dummy melts in like 2 seconds, so not useful
