This is by far the blizzard forum with most negative posts and that’s saying something seeing the HoTS forum and others.
My goodness why can’t we all agree it’s a great looking game, nice visuals and art and skill designs. The open world and towns and quests bring me back to D2.
Maybe… Just maybe everyone was over hyped to the point of reaching expectations that if I may say close to fantasy that when reality hits, you just can’t reconcile them both because you already have a picture in your head.
I agree dungeon nerfs etc are bad but it’s not a mad rush to complete content nor is it a mine that you go to on your spare time to efficiently slay x number of monsters to get the most loot.
Because if you play that way then that is so sad. You play like you are working without the childlike wonder of entering a new world is. Why rush to 100? What’s the point? It’s not a game that punishes you for being lvl 50. That’s why they made tiers for you to comfortably set your pace.
People need to breathe and enjoy the wonder of Sanctuary, I admit there are some things that need work like monster variety and more armor transmogs cus for the male sorc it just looks ugly.
So let us start by saying something positive about the game!
I love the game because it evokes in me the sense of awe and wonder that I first had when I played my first ARPG

I think the hate stems from the fact that the game is not finished and blizzard literally charged 70bucks for mobile game.

The game is good but could be better.
The developers need to be motivated.

the hate comes from people playing 100’s of hours in the first week then complaining there isn’t enough to do.

The hate comes from unreasonable expectations of people that have never experienced a Diablo game launch before and trolls. I will stand by this statement. Why? Because I have experienced them all and launch month was always absolutely a disaster except for OG Diablo.

The answer to your question is in this post : Tune in to Our First Diablo IV Campfire Chat — Diablo IV — Blizzard News
“Thanks to you, Diablo IV is now the fastest selling Blizzard game of all time!”
More sales → a lot of players → a bigger vocal minority → a lot of hate on the forums.

i am complaining but my complain is not one of those.

I think it was made pretty clear that D4 will be a “game as a service”. And I think this is the best model for such games as long as the money predation is done well (unlike in Diablo Immortal) with no P2W.
D2 wasn’t finished at all either in its vanilla version, it became a good game only after extensions, and it was much later. I won’t even speak of Diablo 3, remember that game before Reaper of Souls.
In fact I have been quite surprised of the state of the game day one, truely much better games than D2 and D3 were at launch (I have not played Diablo 1).
And of course I expect to game to improve in the future, like all previous Diablo game, in fact even more now that mtx have been introduced.

They will argue that D2 at launch had “More content” I swear to god they will. I’ve read it before. You are probably thinking I’m joking right now. I’m not. Some truly believe this. Some also believe it launched with Ubers and terror zones.

There are people that think D2 had better/more cosmetics (it had like THREE crappy armors and various chest pieces changed permutation of individual parts) and I am talking entire frakking lifespan, not release…

Ya! Lol! And I love D2. It was the most influential game of my personal youth. But in no way, shape or form was it better at launch than D4 even if we consider the era differences. After LoD? Sure it became a giant.

People saying that vanilla D2 had more content are total liars. Just don’t pay any sort of attention to them. By far D4 is the best vanilla Diablo release, at least since D2, I haven’t played D1 so I won’t speak up about it.

Diablo was linear. But iconic because of everything it did at the time. Battle net was kind of revolutionary at that time for online play.
Which open world did D2 have?
I don’t think autism has much to do with, I’m not complaining that much
The game has some issue, like the bad looking blue color scheme but I have fun playing it. Though, I play on WT1.

D1 was extremely long ago, I barely remember it, it was nice, especially back then, there really wasn’t competition, later on I remember Dink Smallwood and even later on Revenant (which was imho AWESOME). But anyway, D4 > all of them on release, eaaaasily.
I am having a ton of fun in Diablo 4 after playing 110 hrs already and I am still looking forward to playing it more. So I definitely got my money’s worth already. And it will just get better with seasons and expansions.
Sure it has some issues but it’s surprisingly good at launch. We need a lot more stash space, search function in stash, fix some bugs etc. but overall it’s a lot of fun.

Sure, not all complains but every complain that includes: “Fire people” “Heads should be rolling” “lazy stupid devs” “bring back person x” I guarantee, autism… they will come around, but it will take months. I seen it so many times. Btw, they will come around the moment they will get dissapointed by something else, that’s the usual trigger.

I can’t wait for Season 1, I think it is going to surprise us quite a bit.
