Players have been conditioned to believe they are necessary and therefore allows Blizzard as much room as possible to take your money by hiding behind white knights

I have no idea. But I game for fun after a demanding job. So once I figured out the Season system, I realized this might be one of those slogs like an MMO where you have to give up your life to stay current. I quit COD over the same thing. No one has time for a forced reset when there is a real world out there. I thought there would be an opt-in like in D2.

OW2 made a lot of money by relying on the season journey, but still gave up the PVE mode, because they found that only updating the season journey on a small scale will be more profitable than selling the PVE mode, so they are taking shortcuts, and when everyone is tired Just promote another game!
This is a manifestation of a vicious circle, and it is also the result of players’ connivance with manufacturers!
And some lazy design unit also thinks this is nothing, they want to save costs and let players spend more time playing repetitive items!
So the designer, the keeper and the white knights will complain and try to convince you how to play the game!

What is the point of seasons in Diablo 4?
The point of seasons is building your char(s) anew. But since in D4 this aspect is already dull, seasons are dull by default.

fresh start, experiment with new, potentially broken mechanics, but most importantly give you some empty stash space to level an alt.
Honestly who cares about D4 at this point.
Its more people pestering the forum for a day or 2 before leaving

Ladders are coming in Season 2 (I think?)
If competing is your purpose entirely, then there won’t be much for you yet. But the purpose is a fresh start, a balance refresh, new aspects/uniques and new powers via seasonal content to mix things up.
Not for everyone, but certainly is for a lot.
