i just found Ahavarion Spear of Lycander from uber duriel. what is the best sorcerer build for Ahavarion Spear of Lycander?

Congrats! I imagine any is fine outside of Arclash (since arclash wants attack speed)

Just enjoy the fun. You will be nicely OP either way with FW/Blizz/etc.

i use iceshard build can go up to nmd 80 only. so i am thinking of other builds.

Join the crowd then and go BL. Or if you dont want heavy respec then blizz.

I got the spear and Andariel’s Visage yesterday.

Clapping as a blizzard build. Cleared a 100 easily without dying. Killed uber Lili in about 1.5min.

Easy mode.

I just got the spear also and used it for a ball Lightning build and it shreds nm 100 and Lilith to where she can’t do anything besides the mechanics that come with her life percentage. although I was missing 2 aspects because the spear being 2h weapon

Just use it with the most power Sorc build in the game for now. NMD 100 and Uber Lilith didnt stand a chance against the build and its fun running around with Shrine Buffs for more then half the runs.

Since you will be short 1 slot I ended up dropping a DPS Aspect since the Shrine Buffs and Spear make up for that. I also looked for new boots and amulet that had Shrine Buff duration and it worked great.

Good luck with the build its the most fun I have had with D4 since its release!

I got one of these tonight. Feels a little slower than a dagger (even with +30 attack speed) but it still blasts. Moved Conceited to my ring. Giving up CD reduction / resource generation / mana cost reduction on my offhand was probably the biggest tradeoff, but since it’s a little slower I get fewer balls out and it seems to still work just fine.

Hard to gauge DPS exactly in this game, but T100 just melted like it was normal difficulty. It’s not a Shako but I’ll take it.

I spent a lot of time fiddling with Ahavarion and my conclusion is that it’s not as good as a well-rolled dagger + offhand for BL.

  1. You have to give up your offhand. My offhand has CD reduction, mana cost reduction, resource generation, and reduced damage from burning enemies on it. With it I can get 5 balls out before I have to refill my mana, and using any ability that grants unstoppable (flame shield, teleport, metamorphosis) fully refills my mana. Without it, I can only get 3 balls out and pushing a button doesn’t quite fully restore my mana. The DR is only 11% but it’s still quite noticeable in 100s and I expect it to be even more so in AoZ in a couple days.

  2. All the attack speed and crit on Ahavarion makes each individual ball hit harder, so it’s great for melting piles of trash in the blood harvest or helltide, but it’s slower to ramp and it’s a lot harder to stay ramped and it so falls behind in DPS in T100, especially in events where you have to maintain your spinning circle of doom for a solid minute or longer. I know a lot of people skip them but it seemed like a good test case to me since AoZ is going to be all about sustained DPS.

  3. Giving up two legendary slots doesn’t seem quite as big of a deal though. I moved Conceited to my ring and run Control and Storm Swell on my weapon and offhand and neither of those has particularly good uptime, although it’s an area I’m focusing on. The +damage on Ahavarion is additive and so not all that great but it does have a ton of attack speed (which is twice as effective on ball lightning) and crit. With Ahavarion and Esu’s (and movespeed on my amulet) I get over 90% crit after evading which is pretty massive.

Yeah I don’t like having 2 seconds more on all my cooldowns nothing this staff does is Uber… The Shrine and the godly dmg affixes effect don’t appropriately compensate the loss of offhand utility affixes nor the two aspects like…

That said, you can run any build with it, you do only need 2-3 aspects slot to make some simple build work, the damage will be there, you might be bit slower than if you had 1h/offhand and two more synergy Aspects, spells will cost a little more, cooldowns be a little longer… but you will Shrine every now and then like if you grabbed a Super Mario star…

I think you can get better damage from a good yellow. Attack speed is nice … but other than that it’s ok. I thought it will make a huge difference, it didn’t. Ubers are not uber anymore, that is why they have them out for everyone.
