What is really comes down to

Is blizzard hired non-arpg devs to make an arpg. They didn’t even hire people who love playing arpgs.

Hawg and rax are right.

A board game expert is not going to make a compelling arpg experience. Neither is a wow
Dev or a overwatch dev.

There’s nothing like an arpg.

They hired people to craft a Max MTX psychologically addictive Stockholm syndrome style experience.

This group as is cannot create or sustain a true arpg experience.

Overwatch devs should stay away from anything game dev related.

Just an FYI - Blizzard North devs created Warcraft, Blackthorne, Rock n Roll Racing, Lost Vikings, and of course, Diablo.

They may be simpler games in a simpler time, but they all span a vast array of genres - from action, to racing, to puzzles, to real time strategy and of course, arpg.

So it’s quite silly to use an absolute that a given developer or designer is unable to design for different genres.

Now I do agree with you concerning talent, but that may not actually be the fault of development itself. It may be on implementation, programming, or a host of other factors that aren’t public facing. Some decisions aren’t in the hands of developers. For instance, Diablo 1 was initially designed as a claymation style turn-based dungeon crawler and not an arpg.

But sure - a couple of streamers with a megaphone on social media with no actual game design industry experience knows exactly what’s wrong.

While I originally was against the idea of a hamster in a giant ball being the “new” character (at the time), I did not even know how much I wanted it in the game. :hamster:

It’s quite silly to use this statement too.

I’d be curious your reasoning of simpler games and simpler times. People use this phrase but really the dynamics haven’t changed much. Just more diverse and emotional people.

The formula should be the same: games people enjoy. That formula magically changed to take money from everyone’s wallet.

D3 wasn’t anymore complicated than d2. Hell d4 really isn’t more complicated than d3. There are differences sure, but really there the same basic systems. Just shuffled a bit. Paragon boards are a bit of a change but outside of that, most people have adapted. And even if you had these “more complicated” systems back then, us simple people would have got it in the simpler times.

You shouldn’t be. Any of the games done by Blizzard North that I mentioned are quite simple by today’s standards. You should go back and play them. Being simpler doesn’t make them bad games, just simpler. Diablo was the most complex out of the Blizzard North games, but games like Rock N Roll Racing, Blackthorne, or Warcraft 1 are all 20 hour titles. Even Diablo 1 can be done in about 20 hours in a normal playthrough. Hell, every class had the same skills available. I could be a Warrior casting Firewall.

D3 wasnt done by Blizzard North, thanks for failing at reading my comment. Try again.

Hawg and Raxx are not right and they are hipocrytes

They criticize things in Diablo that they do not criticize in other ARPGs like POE

They have no issue with people being able to one shot uber bosses there or tank everything, want to know why? Because to do that, you need to follow guides that are often made by STREAMERS, and therefore they get views for it

Thats the only thing they care about

Yes, Devs made a lot of mistakes in D4, but most of them are NOT what Raxx said in his video. Raxx and the rest of the streamers only want the game to be made in a way that they can farm views with it
