What is everyone doing with your gems?

I have one full stash tab of gems and have started my second stash tab with them. Seems a shame to sell them for 4 g and it’s a small fortune to combine them into a larger gem for some reason.

You get your gems back when you scrap them. You only need like 20 max level gems in the game. No reason to upgrade gems or pick them up. Once you get to WT4 you start collecting flawless gems, upgrade them 5-6 of each kind to highest level.

People who keep collecting gems are failing the IQ test.

I put them on the ground or give them to a merchant so they can be where they belong.

You need like 8 gems of maybe 3 different types at max level. If you are saving every type of gem at every gem level and then complaining that you are out of stash space you are a

Buy muh alts. Gems drop so often that your alts will have no problem farming the ones they need.

I haven’t picked up a gem for like a month. I don’t even need the gems I have in my stash.

Keeping them and upgrading them to max at all times to keep lower stash impact.

There will be more tiers to come, and with all the gem whining, it will come with drop rate nerfs so I will take what I can get now to insulate for the future when I need to upgrade them further with less drop rate.

i throw away every gem i get, sell any unique i find, and i deconstruct any piece of gear i will not find useful in the near future. my stash tabs are almost all cleared up. i dont see any point in saving junk i can find again - i dont have a good enough stash size to hold the list of items which arent useful enough for me to wear. i accept this fate.

I don’t pick them up

I crafted enough royal gems for my gear and ever since them I’ve just stopped picking them up, especially since you can only stack 50 or so in one slot

If they had value like in D3 then I would sell them but nope! gotta have worthless junk value! here is you 20m respec bill btw. lmao.

I foolishly made a crap ton of Royal Gems thinking there must be something to use Gems for… I was wrong. So now I have almost 100 of each Royal Gem taking up 14 inventory spots. Awesome.

I’ve tried to stop picking up any new ones.

Who decided to make Gems a 50 stack cap and Elixirs a 20 stack cap btw?

They’re going to fix that real soon. Gems are going to have their own space.

It is not an IQ problem so much as one of two things.

One, have not played Diablo at all or in awhile. So, they forgot that better gems drop at higher levels. Along the same lines, they do not know that you can just salvage your gear and that will unsocket gems. It cost me 18K to unsocket a gem at the Jeweler but I did that just now to find out what the cost might be. So, they are having trouble with Broodguard (a spider final boss). They put gems into gear and defeat Broodguard but they find a better gem among the loot. They go the Jewelry and discover how expensive it is to do anything with gems. So, they just decide to keep the gems until End Game and socket them when they get the needed build items.

Two, do not plan on doing much with End Game. So, will not be going anywhere near WT3, let alone WT4, for awhile. Remember, most of the meta builds do not get alternate items but seem to require Ultra Uniques. As such, until the drop rate goes down even further, End Game is meaningless if you do not want to grind. This means they stop playing the character at about level 55 or just accept that it is going to take years to get to level 100.

I only carry a 50 stack of each flawless. The others are useless, as they drop like candy. My new characters will manage on drops. So I only have a few slots taken up in stash for gems. I also share 2 tabs with my sons characters. So I only have 2 tabs minus the gem slots as I store them on my tab(s).

I leave them on the floor

I just stoped looting them lol no need since new gems aren’t coming anytime soon.

Honestly, I leave them on the ground after I socket the ones I need.

Wait, you mean I can do other things with my gems besides hoard them?

I was surprised by this as well. In D3, I still have many gems in stash even though I have everyone fully equipped but have no plans to augment gear.

We’re getting a gem tab in season…um don’t know.

I also heard that gems will be used as some form of currency in the future, not sure what gems or what you can get with them.
