What is D4's new exciting game system?

What do you think are the exciting new game systems or rules that D1-D3 and Immortal didn’t have?
Open world? World Boss? Paragon board? Sound and visuals? Horse? PvP reward?

I like the Diablo series with the addition of new game systems.

Open world is new but pretty negligible I feel. Feel the same way about PvP but I know some people like it.

World bosses are neat, but pretty boring once you have them figured out.

Paragon board is neat with the glyphs and legendary nodes, but I’ll have to see it in action before I give it too much praise. Definitely seems good so far and puts more power on the player which is what people wanted.

I love the sounds and visual style so far. Much more grounded and realistic.

Mount will definitely be nice for traversing the overworld.

Nightmare dungeon seem like they could be cool. Slowly leveling up sigils and trying to get good ones for your build seems neat to me. You can also avoid unfavorable ones, for example if you get unstoppable enemies on a frost sorc, you can just scrap it because they can’t be chilled or frozen. The limited revives add a touch of danger to it as well.

Tree of whispers seems like an upgraded version of bounties, which I appreciate. I liked
the idea of bounties but they were so bad for getting loot that they weren’t worth doing. Now you are in an open world and don’t have to teleport between each and every bounty.

The class mechanics add an interesting twist to some classes and a slight modification to others so they are kind of hit or miss.

things don’t always have to be new to be interesting or pleasing. i suppose what actually eludes a huge part of newcomers moaning about this or that because in this or that other game things are done this way or that way and then should be like that here too, is that actually a big part of customers coming from previous titles in the franchise don’t want it to be much different from what they got already in the past.

on the opposite, want it to be like those were. maybe not exactly like titles of 20 years ago, sure, graphics and few little qol things, but all in all, many of us came here back to home, because that’s what we want: same old, good ole diablo, not new, not different.

including what differentiates it from other games, not doing things like others do, but the way many diablo in the past did and we got accustomed to. and such a customers base not only couldn’t care less of new, but would never find it exciting. the opposite, more likely a loss of identity.

I like that some loot is actually rare and hard to find, but there are plenty of good items that are relatively easy to find. Its a good mix of D2 and D3 itemization/drop rates.

I’m still not very clear on the trading rules, I hope they don’t make the best items extremely rare and only likely to be acquired via trading or buying it for cash from a shady website.

I like the freedom. Once you’re at the first town, you have a lot of options of where to go, so you can change things up on subsequent playthroughs.

Adventure mode in D3 kind of did this but it was little snippets of action (bounties) and the world lost it’s sense of scale

Also horse!

Blizzard is famous for taking already existing systems from other games or products and making them better. They dont really innovate much on their own in terms of new features. Theyll take something, make it smoother, easier to understand, easier to use, more engaging, or more attractive to the consumer in some way.

WoW began as a less clunky everquest.
Apple is a less clunky Unix interface.

That being said, im expecting D4 to take alot of the same ideas and concepts as PoE, Lost Ark, D1-3, Last Epoch, ect and just put a new polish on them, new skins, work out the kinks of those systems and re-package them to us in a new way.

There is a 4 in the name of the game instead of 3

Easily, for me, is the sheer number of interactions between skills/items/paragon. We’ve seen a little bit of this in previous titles, but nothing like D4. How we build, and how we think about builds, really changes in D4.

It has an actual talent tree

Imo if you dictate others builds with sets it ruins the personalization of my own gameplay. I can’t own it, get into it, and be invested if I’m just expected to go along with what someone else wants me to play. So in my mind the best gameplay in an ARPG comes from a well designed talent system that is clear and easy to understand and allows almost anyone to make their wildest dreams come true.
