Bulwark druid does this immensily better, 100% unstopable and barrier uptime while stacking the infinitely better DR’s sinergys obtained trough their paragons and aspects. Unlike barbarian that was nerfed and gutted until they made sure you couldnt had 100% shout uptime and Harrogath continues to be bugged not procing from aspect bleeds.
Heck , even ROGUE , supposed to be the “nimble but squishy class” its arguably tankier than barbarians with their “tank poison” build while still doing 5x more damage than any barb build.
Is it support only class?
Druid bois agane have a BETTER support build ( look it up, i know its not that popular because who wants to play support on an ARPG anyway when most people play solo )
The only thing support barb brings to the table its resource gen. Debilitating roar its a WHOLE 30% more DR than challenging shout and on a way shorter CD trough Symbiotic Aspect ! (also base line btw)

WW barb , many say is a speed farm build. Yet slower and with lower damage than Rogues and Druids ( necros can wipe the screen with one button but run slow i guess? ) So its not even good that, while also being not capable on the endgame.
Upheaval maybe? Hellhammer was actually nerfed not buffed, the 0.2 damage increase over 4 seconds instead of 3: ITS A DPS LOSE. And in how many scenarios a monster stands still for 4 seconds anyway?
(Fields of Crimson was also nerfed btw with the CDR lost, besides that skill its so bad it would require an entire rework to be used )
Just compare druids or rogues ENDGAME CAPABLE BUILD diversity versus a barbarian, its on a complete different universe. Even necros while still missing their core fantasy minion focused builds. Still have multiple viable builds on another dimension of DPS compared to barbs.

TLDR: Barbs are good for absolutely nothing and their class design its a “middle finger” to anyone that plays them.
I really did enjoy my barb during server slam and the 2-3 weeks before they ruined the class with way overnerfs.
I get fixing bugs, but man they destroyed the class so badly. This 1% armor buff is a spit in the face. Honestly id have preferred to see no armor increase than a 1% increase that will basically do jack ****.
My best guess is they are looking at their “data” and conclude "but barbs have more armor than the other classes! they must be gud! " With an absolute lack of understanding on how even rogues becomes tankier than barbarians with their poison sinergy across all sources of power.
I cant help but to think when I look at that Class Designer during campfire and think either is this dude is trolling barb hard ? or was he deeply scarred/traumatized playing against barb in PVP pre nerf and hold a deep hatred against the class ?
or just pure coincidently a genuine clueless person whos position is earning 6 figure salary and best thing to buff/helps barb is by buffing basic skill ? who knows, maybe its his “Fantasy”
It’s very frustrating for me, as I genuinely don’t enjoy playing my alts as much as I did enjoy playing the barbarian pre all the nerfs.
The gameplay felt smooth, once you got geared up you could sort of start enjoying a sense of flow through the game. All be it with low single target DPS.
The main issue, why I think so many of us are upset. Is that they destroyed, literally destroyed the one class we liked playing. There’s just no way that the devs are actually playing barbs on a high lvl, or they’d understand that the changes they did, didn’t just lower our dps to the lowest of all classes, they also removed the fun out of the class.
The barb now feels clunky, uncontrollable dps, unrewarding, fury-starved, and spammy. It scales absolutely horribly.
What we need is higher passive fury regeneration, much higher single target dps, and through better fury regeneration, we’d feel less forced to go 3 shouts + WoTB.
A solution, would be some sort of paragon that increased dmg per hit to the same target (+5% up to 50%). And another that would give us X amounts of fury per second after using any ability.
We still wouldn’t be anywhere near the meta classes dps, but it’d feel much better.
The devs don’t play the game, simple as that. They are not passionate about making it “the best game ever”. It is just a job for them.
This is my only explanation for delivering this soulless pile of garbage.
Story, art style and cinematics team did a great job, but gameplay, class and itemization teams failed miserably.
Although I do have hope for the game, I have to fully agree with you here. It’s rare to see something so universally disliked as itemization in D4. Hot take, but I feel there should be a large update to the game at some point that just takes our current itemization, throws it out a window, and just rebuilds the system.
I totally agree and still have hope, too.
But I really don’t want to wait for the expansion in 2025 to make D4 a good game. I want it now and that’s driving me nuts :D. Diablo is my most loved franchise ever, but the only thought I have for D4 is “look how they massacred my boy!”
Oh for sure you have a fair point. Diablo is a huge name franchise with a large team behind it and plenty of time in development and it does feel like we received less than the expected full package. sigh, yeah it is sad at the moment
The issue I have with barbarians, scratch that, barbarian players , it’s not the class in general, is that:
They want to do S tier damage
They want to be super tanky
And they want to be super mobile
You can’t have all of those things.
To me the barbarian class in several games has always been a tanky class that does decent damage, and shouldn’t be super mobile just speeding across the map with various skills and all that.
But barbarian players in this game want it all.
In my opinion, they should be this way.

Also I’m not saying that the Diablo 4 version of the Barb is okay and doesn’t need adjustments.
And comparing them to rogues is not fair as rogues are overtuned and way above the other classes.
Yes it would be unfair if we got all of those things, but what the OP is saying is we don’t have any of those things barring maybe the tankiness depending on your build. But then again, other classes can be just as tanky while doing far more damage and that is the issue. Every class in every mmo I’ve ever played has had some sort of trade off, which is fair and expected. So for the current game to give so much to certain classes but then leave Barb behind is also not alright. There needs to be some sort of push and pull when it comes to class design and unfortunately for us Barb players Blizzard has decided that the other classes don’t really need to live by that.
Barbarians are light-medium armor fighters that excel in movement and damage output. Their Signature Rage ability gives them periods of high damage and durability. They are quick damage burst users with down periods. They rely on natural superiority and can generally overpower most other fighter types with brute strength.
And I think that even after everything they announced in the latest campfire chat, that barbarians and sorcerers will still be behind the other classes.
Rogues and druids were not toned down and especially the other three classes were not brought up to the Rogue and druids level.
