What if we think of the D3 Witch Doctor but its a Summoner in D4.
I have fleshed out some of the skills but still want feedback and suggestions.
Trying to use the damage types that are in D4.
Base Skills
1 Frogs - Physical damage
2 Acid ball - Poison damage
3 Shadow Minions - Shadow damage
4 Ants - Fire damage
Core skills
1 Insect Hive - Poison damage maybe - Physical damage
2 Slime or Mould - Poison damage
3 Shadow Devil - Shadow damage
4
Defensive
1 Storm armor not in use atm. - Lightning damage
2 Movement - Dust form, think Sorc teleport
3
4
Summons
1 Elemental - Ice, Fire, Lightning, the branches could be AoE or Tank
2 Environmental - takes from the area you are in, not 100% on how this could work.
3 Shadow Cat - think Panther - Shadow damage
4 Insect Swarm - Poison damage maybe - Physical damage
Support - CC
1 Chocking Cloud - Physical damage
2 Kraken - like the Bogodile arms grab mobs - Stun
3 CC Shadow - blinding reduce the damage done by Mobs in area
4
Ultimate - powerful creature that cannot be in controlled for a long time.
1 Colossus hand - Physical damage
2 Shadow beast
3 Chimera three headed beast - Elemental damage

Capstone
No idea here.
But as a starting point it’s not being used in other ARPGs that I can think of but I maybe wrong.
Also I know thing would take ages to get done even if the Devs think it’s an idea worth working with.

Nice! Anything with frogs and bugs, I will play.
I like all the summons… perhaps in the same lines a Defensive skill could be like a summons, giant frog swallows you for immunity x seconds.
Movement Skill- Frog Leap for a jump effect or Gossamer Wings giving temp flight across the battlefield.
Cool stuff, very imaginative!

Considering the 6th class is a Javazon-style Demon Hunter, I don’t think they’re really firing on all cylinders for new class ideas.

I think something more original would be a demonic flavored class as a counterpart to the angelic javazon. We havent yet had any demon flavored classes at all.

Interesting expand on that with skills.
Can we make it some kind of shaman or something? African witch doctor is no longer a thing with our character creator.
Anyways WD sucks, my personal opinion. I dont want it, and I hope it comes dead last in the classes if Blizzard have to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

why should we get 7 classes, let alone another caster? i see the space for a 6th with shield being currently used only by necro a hint to it coming for a dedicated one. that said, i don’t see the need for another class though. most roles covered. you have different shades of casters among pure caster (sorc), summoner (necro, which you can differentiate in more fighter than summoner) and the mix-and-match druids (along shapeshifting companions casting etc it makes up for a wider range of choices). and different shades of warrior, among barbarian and rogue, from pure melee to ranged.
that leaves space for the shield wielder tanky guy to complete the warrior gamut. but i don’t see how another caster would implement anything needed in the casters selection. let alone what basically is another summoner, ie, a double of what you got already with necro and partially w druid (so not even a double, a 3x).

Yup, a demonic class that devours their enemies, to aquire their skills would be nice. A bit like a Blue mage type with enemy skill in ffgames.
i’m sure WD will show up someday. would be weird to waste the one class that feels unique to the IP.

you sure? as others noted already, wd isn’t anything different than a necro in disguise actually. zombies, garga being nothing but a undead golem construct. zombie bears. dead stuff summoner. different skin. but all in all nothing that wasn’t in the ip already. a necro is a necro is a necro, or a necro by any other name, would still stink as necro, if you wish.
idk its a way different vibe in general.

if i go with your thinking i would take the WD instead of necro though.
sure. but changing color to a car doesn’t make it a motor-bike either. wd is to necro what monk or dh is to rogue, if you wish. ie, you could ideally claim the vibe is different. still, a monk or dh is nothing but a melee rogue or a ranged rogue. can be different under the “color” (vibe) point of view. but under the practical game perspective it fills same niche. can dress it holyvibes or demonicshadowymaskedstuff, but it is at all practical effects a melee zipping guy or a flipping around x/bow + traps guy. already there. as wd and necro.

I’m all for a new iteration of the Witch Doctor. I believe that WD was the most original and innovative class concept in Diablo’s history.
