What happened to legendaries?

Why arent legendaries actually legendary? Now they are just run of the mill average gear. Saw a post where someone suggested getting rid of blues and yellows, that would make the misnamed legendaries the lowest gear available, no need for a light spire for everday average gear. Make legendaries great again, or at least name them correctly

The “magic” blue items should just be dropped and everything shifted down a category. Rare → magic, legendary → rare, unique → legendary, uber → unique.

because this is a D4 “loot reborn”.
The only ARPG in 2025 with just 1, rarely 2 item types to use
No sets, no runewords, no real uniques, no crafting bases, no jewels, no charms, etc…
1 item type to rule them all.

It’ll probably get better going forward. This is what should have launched instead of that weird aspect farming/a million niche affixes that don’t do anything that Blizzard had going.

Now they have to refine the system and that’ll take time. They’re probably looking at mastercrafting and tempering mechanics because loads of people are complained about constant bad affix spam and bricked items for next patch.

Overall it’s going to take a good 3-6 months to fix this mess but it’s a start.

Idk… after a decade of evolution, this is exactly what d3 settled into. A flood of legendaries (which should be renamed commons) and nothing else of any relevance. D4 is basically in the same spot currently.

D2 had a great system and till now we can’t just copy it…
