Silently Blizzard just cut a lot of steps from both base and VoH story line.
No more Zir and Gringoire fights, no more Mephisto fight.
The story lines are short and they reduce it even more…
What a crap !

Zir was in the base campaign…?
Pretty sure he was created for season 2 and the base campaign never had a mephisto fight
probably the current management also shares the same thought.
Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra:
… Reduce “story” investment (costs so much for 1 time element in a ARPG) and focus on new classes, new mob types, new end-game activities that last more than a few days.
None of it ever happened in the campaign. I don’t understand your point.
You could have said “Astaroth is stil not a boss we can fight at endgame” but you went the opposite way which is just wrong…
In the original campaign you fight them. I did it couple times.
For example, the VoH campaign now ends when you finish the cosmetic armor questline.
No.
You fight Andariel & Duriel and lillith in the Story
I played launch day D4 and none of the bosses that came later like zir or grigoire was in the story.
In my own opinion past bosses and lesser prime evils should of not made a come back it felt like there was a Hell gym and when they are put in the game they are all weirded out. Not like in Diablo Immortal you see so many new mobs…yes regular ones you fight during your adventure not like what we always see skeletons and bugs. In the mobile game you will encounter many different kinds of demons and ruined humans that the Worldstone did to some humans. The mobile game puts Diablo 4 to shame because of so many places to visit and there are questlines and an actual story sequel to each zone.
OP is lying. Either that or he thinks the seasonal quest chains that introduced these bosses (in the case of Varshan and Zir, Grigoire never had a quest chain associated with him) are part of the base game/VoH storyline and they’re simply not.
Lair bosses were never part of the base game storyline. The first lair boss to be added to the game was Varshan in Season 1; Grigoire and Zir were added in Season 2.
As for the Harbinger of Hatred, that is a required fight in the VoH campaign. But it didn’t become a lair boss until this season.
