What happened to Belial and Azmodan?

I have noticed that Diablo, Mephisto, Baal, Andariel, and Duriel all seem to be making an appearance from all the news/videos I have read/seen, but I have not seen any mention of Belial or Azmodan. Has anyone seen any reference to them making an appearance in D4? Would be nice to be able to take on all the lords of hell from previous games.

Gotta wait for the game to come out. They could easily just be in Hell plotting something that isn’t ready yet.

It seems that all the great evils will make an appearance one way or another whether itll be in the base game or in future expansions. Lorewise, all of the great evils have been freed since Malthael demise and even Lilith mentioned they are all coming in some fashion. I have no doubt we will be seeing all of them again in D4.

I hope they make the expansions about the Prime Evils, by three they come may mean more than the Lilith video indicated. The first expansions may be about Mephisto since his daughter is center stage. I can see them adding DLC content in between expansions which will allow the lesser evils to have a story leading up to the primes… I’m excited for the possibilities! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Had a crush on Andariel since classic D2 … for … reasons. :crown::woman:

Still too early to know. Game isn’t out yet and there’s a lot to be wanting. We will just need to wait and see.

Oddly enough, this is actually the first time that I’ve read that Diablo will actually be in this one. I know that it seems obvious because of the title but Iwasn’t positive since it was possibly them just using Diablo in the title to help those who aren’t already fans of the IP know that it’s the same universe(what with the game already having too many MMO characteristics for my tastes, maybe they were nervous to call it World of Diablo).

Also, what many thought was Duriel isn’t who the creature was that was seen in the vids. I think that’s supposed to be a relative of Duriel(sister, i believe). Might seem like a small detail but could mean different mechanics(PLEASE, NO HOLY FREEZE AURA AGAIN).

In Classic D2, Duriel, with that Freeze Aura, was notorious for being difficult without some ā€˜Cannot be Frozen’ gear (or pet/minion/mercenary) to assist. Good times. :beers:

I have seen the sister (I think she is the queen of maggots), but I’m pretty sure there is a video that shows Duriel for a split second at the end of it. It’s the same one that shows Andariel in it, but I can’t seem to find it at this point as there are so many D4 videos on youtube now, it’s difficult to find the specific one I am referring to. You could also be right, and I may have misinterpreted what I saw.

Stacking thawing potions was and still is so OP. I remember the first time I went from Duriel one-shotting within me a few seconds to just being faceroll easy after stacking 10+ thawing potions.

Well… we dont know how andariel and them came back… My lore is fuzzy since it’s been a while… but… andy meph baal, and duriel was all killed, belial and azmodan were sucked into the black soulstone, and became part of diablo himself.

It’s going to be interesting for sure though, really looking forward to the fights. no doubt imma get curb stomped a few times.

Zero … I may be mistaken … but I believe ALL seven of the Evils (Andariel, Asmodan, Baal, Belial, Diablo, Duriel, Mephisto) eventually had their souls captured by the Black Soulstone. Remember, Adria was around for Diablo 1 (the original game) … so she had some time to prepare the Black Soulstone before the events of Diablo 2 … and … it is my understanding that she did, under the orders of her true master, Diablo himself.

Even then, Diablo had a vision/plan to become the Prime Evil … in a way … he, and his brothers, remind me of Greek Mythology. The three brothers, Hades (eldest), Poseidon (middle), and Zeus (youngest), were the sons of Chronos. Chronos was the leader of the Titans (progenitors of the younger gods). The three brothers fought their father and defeated him and the rest of the Titans. The Titans could not be killed (they were just as powerful as the younger gods), so they were locked away/imprisoned. The location of the Titans’ prison may have been in Tartarus/Underworld, depending on the lore. Also depending on the lore, Zeus, the youngest of the three, tricked his eldest brother, Hades, into Tartarus/Underworld, where Hades remained, and kept his station as the custodian of the Underworld and Warden over the Titans’ prison. Poseidon became the head of the water/oceans. Zeus, who was always seeking power, made himself master of the sky/air and the earth/land, and, crowned himself King of all gods.

Anyway … Diablo may be the youngest of the three Prime Evils … but … truth be told … he is the most wise + clever of the three … his plans went many, many years in the making … even as his other, older brothers plotted and schemed … Diablo had his own agenda … separate from his siblings.

Incidentally, it just so happens that I am the youngest of three children (i.e. I am the last born of twins, plus, there is my older sister), and, yes, I fancy myself the most clever of my siblings … so I feel some personal investment in all of this.

Well as stated it was definitely fuzzy lol. either way diablo wiki for the win.
https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Soulstone So yeah you’re correct. although It still makes no sense. I mean… what did their souls linger around for 15, 20 years etc? >…> Especially considering some of the original soulstones were smashed at the smithy in hell.

But either way the lore is there.

I 100% assume that we will see ALL of the various baddies. I think fitting right into the idea that they want to live service this out and have it last a really really long time, and pair that with the enemy scaling so you don’t have WoW style regional levels. I think they’ll all be there.

That’s how I see the expansions and updates working. New regions (look at that map that shows where D1, D2, D3 and D4 take place in the world, there’s still LOTS of world), hell, the heavens, a massive cast of baddies with the option always to make more. And with the scaling you can’t have the ā€œwell don’t bother with that zone it’s too weak for meā€.

I imagine we’ll ultimately see most or all of them but without the need to crowbar in multiple all within the same storyline for 1 campaign since they can be used to extend the life of the game.

Curious when Diablo will show up though. There’s some quote somewhere floating around that there’s some key strategic objective that Diablo himself has to be in the main story prior to any expansions but it’s been a 100% Lilith focus so far. So not sure if he’ll get involved and then we worry that Lilith gets shoved to the side thematically or if they break from that and Diablo is later.

Are we gonna fight multiple prime evils at once? That could be the huge end boss. . . 3 of them at once with 11 other characters.
