Genuinely curious as I’ve been using Bone for the longest time but I’ve come to the conclusion that the Taunt button honestly sucks if you’re not building Thorns (and even then…) I kinda wish it would either naturally build Hate or at least have an aspect or Unique that makes it auto taunt.
So now I’m torn between using the Blood Golem with the 15% damage absorb, or Iron with Shockwave.
I’m also seriously considering dropping Bone Spear from my bar (BLASPHEMY I know) for Bone Storm, but that would mean giving up my Scythe hmm…
Bone with thorns because I have a build through spikes. I think the golems’ skills are okay. Mobs have problems with targeting; they REALLY want to attack you. To be honest, I even think this might be bad code. Like the player always gets into the TARGET variable because… To find a target, there is already a ready-made method that can only find the player :). I had many situations when I 30-40 sec. ran away from the mob, but he still did not pay attention to the golem and ran after me. Even during the bloody mist. Or maybe the developers just like to make our lives miserable. It could be either the first or the second.
Iron. I always end up using Iron. You start to get used to the delay on the slam and how to use it so it doesn’t go running across the map and then all the way back.
Without it, I would probably struggle a lot more with suppression fields.
But I’ve been moving stuff around since I’ve gotten some uniques.
Its damage is high and if my mages aren’t going in then at least I have the slam to do targeted damage on the mobs creating the field.
This was before I got howl from below though, so now as long as I can spawn corpses inside it I can launch exploding zombies at them.
Blood golem, sometimes using the 15% absorb skill, sometimes the bonus 50% damage.
I know Bone Golem can cleave (i wish this to all Golems too), but the active damage of Blood Golem is very good (big aoe also), and with my luck hits and CE + Decrepify, i can use it pretty often.
Yeah I tried out the others again since starting this and I’ve come to the conclusion that the Taunt, however brief is simply too valuable and it buys time for mages to cast Blizzard and freeze enemies (I actually thought that aspect was mediocre until I stopped using it for a bit and realized just how much work it was doing)
They really do need to expand minion options across the board though. I miss being able to heavily spec into them like in D2 (Curses are also woefully underdeveloped and under supported)
haha yeah. I did a NM100 last night and thought ill pop a potion and take a incense and just chill, will be nice and easy as my char is decked out.
The map was goatmen and they can be difficult as they hit so hard. Anyway I get killed instantly, then again and again. At this point I am absolutely fuming… While waiting for my army of the dead to come off cool down after dying to res my skeles I realise I have a red golem aka blood golem… I switch back to bone golem and the rest of the dungeon is an absolute cake walk.
Goatmen - it’s still tolerable. But ballists and templars with a shock wave are just a nightmare. Sometimes I can fall 2-3 times even if I’m not on the elite pack
my tactic with the corpse bows (i assume you mean these with ballista?) send in my golem to taunt then go in after at a different angle to my golem. bloodmist into the room then line of sight till I have 40+ stacks of disobedience (basically safely over 13300 armour as that’s the cap at NM100).
Templars are usually fine unless I lose all my barrier or they are enraged a lot (avanger). I am wary of them but I don’t really take action to avoid dying to them, unless 10 meters tall due to huge avanger stacks
I have 13300 armor unbuff and 14.5k hp. And the ballista often one-shots me from behind the screen. Templars also like to start charging an attack off the screen (I’m serious, they attack like a ballista before you see them). And most of all this causes problems in the corridors. + this is not helped by the terrible game design. In order not to die from an environment that also one-shots (dome, crystal, almost all ellite affixes), you need to move and you fall under the stray blow of these powerful attacks. I don’t really like it. Although perhaps this is only a problem with my build.
This is where if you had a way to build barrier you could effectively close too double your hp, but with razertale and army of the dead your only option is temerity and then you have almost no damage reduction aspects on gear. Damage reduced from close/far is really important, as is % armour.
