Not really understanding the tooltip for it. summoning skills summon things, they don’t do damage…
Does this add damage to minions, and if so how does it work with gear that has % to increased minion damage?
I am sure I am missing something here…

I just assume it works for what is summoned but who knows. I had a similar question as to where “skill” damage effects pets but no one seems to know. Just another obstacle that’s preventing minion builds from working well, not only do we contend with poor AI, and anti-pet mechanics, but we also dont know how to gear for them because there’s no pet stat information in game.
It’s confusing because you have minions you can summon, and then you have skills that do damage and summon minions.
Considering they have a separate stat for +% damage increase for minions, maybe the +% to summoning skill damage only applies to skills that do damage + summon, and then only apply to the summoning damage, not add to the damage for the minions that come with the summon?
I don’t really know…
When equipping / unequipping an item with summoning skill % (and no other meaningful modifiers), I can see both the active and passive damage being modified on my Golem skill tooltip. However, Raise Skeleton doesn’t actually show you any damage numbers, so I have no idea if their damage scales with summoning skill or not.
Interesting. At least with health increases for minions you can see the effects on the health bars for them.
The other interesting thing I noticed yesterday in a cutscene tool tip, is that most damage modifiers are inherited from your character by your minions.
I would say we need a health and damage number for minions, so we can at least see the raw effects on their damage and health…
I tested this out with one skeleton attacking a mob and having a close eye on the dmg done and it does seem to affect skeletons dmg
95% sure that it only affect the golem slam active ability and army of the dead.
Tested it with 30% summoning skill damage and golem or skeleton warrior melee swings didn’t seem to be doing more damage.
The army of the dead skill dont have summoning tag, only have ultimate tag. And the +xx% summoning skill damage description in your stats&mats table say that this stat add dmg to skills that have the summoning tag.
The +xx% summoning skill damage only aplies to the activated abilities on your bar that have the summoning skill tag. Currently for necro, that is only the raise skeleton and golem abilities. Unfortunately its wouldn’t increase the skeletons damage damage at all, because the skill doesn’t have any damage numbers in the description. But it will increase the golems damage over all, because in the passive and active description there are damage numbers to affect.
lets trade some necro notes, EVRacingLLC#1913
It buffs all minions. They are all summoning skill. They get 100% of it. It’s the best stat to stack for them besides vuln damage.
This has been tested.
Can confirm. Not sure if it’s from the most recent patch, but after testing some +summon skill damage gear, my Necro’s minion damage increased. It wasn’t as much as +summon damage, but it did greatly increase my Iron Golem’s slam damage and army of the dead.
+% summon damage has the effect of actively weakening your character by taking up an affix slot that could’ve contained something useful.
just to answer this.
I got empower minion to 70% and it was demolishing so it comes down to how often you want to cast for control of burst or just leave your auto attacking goons to there own. I like Summon as a caster of empower alot cause it does ALL your minions dmg instead of just one class
