What does attack speed do for sorcs?

I notice sorcs have a lot of attack speed nodes on their paragon board. Is this synonymous with cast speed or is it purely to augment conjurations? Or maybe even just ice blades?

Cast speed. Improves speed of any skill that doesnt have cooldowns

I thought this would be obvious for most people, but attack spells are still attacks.

So, Attack speed increases the speed of all attacks, including spells and how fast you attack with them.

It should increase channelspeed and attacks of summons as well. But idk if it increases dot tiks as well, some games do that.

Probably one of the best stats after achieving enough manareg to chaincast core/mastery spells.

you can cast those instant cast spells 25% more instanter!

That’s not how it worked in diablo 2 so nothing wrong to ask about how it works here really.

well we might see some changes, how classes are played lategame, after we did the maths on as scaling for different builds. Some might prefer 1handed weapons, because of that.
Its a good thing, otherwise most Builds ever use 2handed weapons.

Attack speed increases the cast speed of spells, however not cooldown spells? Yes seems like an intuitive design that should be obvious to everyone

Druid has “instant” Spells and attack speed has a massive impact on how many time’s they hit per second. I would assume it should be no different across the board.

Yeah, generally what it does is increase skill animation speeds and has certain breakpoints.

It doesn’t speed up dots…but it sure does speed up hydras

Does the “attack speed” affix also speed up the basic skill? Can I swap the “basic attack speed” aspect for the “attack speed” affix? Has anyone tested this?

You can get attack speed and basic skill attack speed on different gear slots. If you are playing a basic build like arc lash you will want both types. If you don’t use the basic a lot go for attack speed. Not sure if this still holds true with new items.
