Aspect of the Shepherd adds dmg to core skills based on number of active companions. It’s widely assumed that 3 wolves, 2 creepers and 4 ravens (1 reg, 2 from brutal, 1 from stampede aspect), is gonna count as 9 companions. Are we sure it doesnt mean “for each companion skill on the bar” which would be 3? It just seems really strong in a 2hnd weapon to get 144% dmg (9 companions, 8% max roll, x2 for 2hnd) dmg to core skill.
I’d love dev confirmation on what counts as an “active companion”. I’m sure people will say they tested it but there’s a lot of room for error. Are you sure the weapon you swapped out just wasn’t much stronger? Did you get a baseline then add ravens then add brutal?

I don’t have any proof to back this up, but I would bet it is per companion and not per companion skill in your skill bar.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on expecting a blue to respond here. Your best bet would be to ask on twitter if you want an answer.

I’m pretty sure it would be, and they had something like this in d3, with the demon hunter i think.

Ya theres alot of questions i have too. . . Esp when it comes to the aspects. Theyre not specific enough. Way too vague. Theres an aspect that says “your minions will gain the ability of the key bestial rampage passive”. Do we have to have a skill point on that or do they just get the aspect? Many more like that too.

Try not to overthink the descriptions. You gotta stay within the box when it comes to what it says. If it says “your minions will gain the ability of the key beastial rampage passive” then that’s what it does. In D3, they had similar legendary powers and they did not require you to equip certain skills to make them work.
Also, does Aspect of Stampede grant +2 companions in a 2h weapon? Which is more damage if you slot shepherd in your Amulet slot.
My understanding and assumption is that you do not need to have the passive yourself for the minions to get it. The skill says they gain the benefit - no caveats.
a year later but it says “gain the benefits… when you do” so you need to have it active.
