What are you thoughts on the latest roadmap announcement?

I just finished watching the YouTube interview with Rhyker, the D4 influencer, and I couldn’t help but feel a bit underwhelmed by the roadmap. It looks like we’ll be relying on borrowed powers throughout 2025 until the new expansion arrives. While I understand the challenge of catering to everyone’s preferences, the prospect of sticking with the same cookie-cutter mechanic for the rest of the year doesn’t seem very engaging to me. From my perspective, it might be difficult to stay entertained without fresh or innovative gameplay. I preferred last years approach, where the D4 took risks and you didn’t know what to expect, as it was something fresh and interesting. I can’t help but think that myself and many other players will get bored with this for the next 3 seasons. Also I was disappointed to hear that nothing is being done to rework the glyph levelling system… Or at least some indication of that. Man I’m so over the pit. What are your thoughts on this?

Really, I got bored in S6 although completed it… Bored in S7 and simply went to eternal to play.

The roadmap is what I expect from Blizzard; trinkets without any real information on the real roadmap of the game. So for me it looks as though the rest of 2025 and well into 2026 will be in eternal.

I was thinking the same. At least getting glyphs to 100 will be a once off thing for a few months and it wont have to be repeated every season. They really need to make glyph levelling accessible in other activities of the game.

Check the roadmap thread and see for yourself.

I mean the thread about the roadmap reveal is basically already for this type of discussion.

im hyped for dungeons 2.0 and seeing how they can make Infernal hordes better, not really interested in “powers” it just means i play my build and random sh is just flwing aroung my character doing something automatically… hardly feels “good”

the only power i can think felt good was Season of BLood, the space bar power that made you a bat swarm.

on my current spirit born, i have no idea what my powers do other than make my number bigger. even in season of malignant those powers feel actually interactive.

But that one’s in the game permanently now.

yeah cause it was a great power, these witch powers idc about.

Improving nightmare dungeons and infernal hordes is good. But how will they improve it? I’m cynical about everything they do lately. And I feel that I have good reason to be.

I care about the jewelry gems, and legitimately hope we see similar gems as a permanent feature.

Mix in random attributes/affixes on gem drops, and they just added new itemization to the game.

fair enough i havent really used much of the jewelry gems but i do like complex “gems”

I would be happy if it were just a mind cage situation to improve the difficulty over base T4 in those instances.

I can see a mind cage situation for Infernal Hordes. There’s not much to add, save for more events/choices.

For NMD, they could take a page out of Rootholds to add a poison choice. Rootholds were still easy and far too generous, but the system presented has promise with refinement.

I love nightmare dungeons, I hope they go wild. So much potential.

75% of the rest of the seasons for the year are swap out powers and swap in powers. That is not going to get anyone excited. There just isnt much here. No wow factor. No hype. Back to their “good enuf” model. POE 2 and D4 are both failing miserably.

Mostly: :woman_shrugging:

I am curious what they will do with Nightmare Dungeon Reborn.
So far it seems like Blizzard have just kept replacing it with worse and worse endgame activities (not that any of them should be replaced, they should exist side by side).

The season template is as usual a bad joke.

Same. I want them to ditch NMD Sigils. Just go pure Dust.

Same with Infernal Hordes. Ditch Sigils, make it cost a ton of Dust. At least they stack, though.

For NMD (my ideal design)

  • Multiple Floors
  • Boss at the end of each Floor
  • More randomized layouts
  • A bit shorter per floor (1 objective instead of 2)
  • Pick a poison/boon combo each floor
  • +10 enemy level each Floor
  • Random Pinnacle Boss at Floor 5
  • More random mini-bosses like The Butcher (Hephasto, Gharbad the Weak/Strong, Rakinishu, Skeleton King, Seige-Breaker, Maidens of Flame, etc, etc).

My thoughts: Not enough there to even discuss.

I like that. I’d add being able to target farm loot. Like you select “boots + movement speed”. Not guaranteed of course but improved chance.

I prefer to wait and see the details and then decide for myself. I dont need strangers on the internet to tell me what to think.

I think they played it too safe and made it worthless as far as announcements go. They never go into detail about these things until it’s right on top of us, and so far every system they’ve added or changed has been a decent at best half-measure, so unsurprisingly, people aren’t exactly stoked. If they have something good to tell us about regarding NMDs then they should tell us the actual long-term plans. If they have massive reworks to Hordes, same. They have a habit of underselling AND underdelivering, and that’s not a working model if you’re trying to generate interest. :v:

Saying things like this reflexively doesn’t always serve you well. The interview was with Brent Gibson, the Game Director of D4.
