Im seriously asking if it’s worth getting the expansion, I took a long long break and started back up last week. I got two toons to lvl 60 and an 150 paragon now. Is it just the story, dark citadel, mercs and runes I have no access to? Or is there something else. I can’t decide if it’s worth getting and will bolster my experience enough.
And undercity. Of all things mentioned here, the undercity is the only one that is actually enjoyable when you burn out on other activities as it allows you to literally target farm everything in the game. You can still get the same things outside of undercity (except the Undercity exclusive mount and runes) but you have to play specific content for them. Whether that alone is worth $40 is up to you.
You’re more or less correct on what you’re missing (also spiritborn,) but if you plan on playing long term at all you should get it. It’s very likely that systems specific to the expansion will be expanded and built out over time and you will be denied access to those too.
If you plan on playing D4,buy it if you are not happy with the game pre x-pac ,i wouldn’t bother. It’s a bit underwhelming imo.
If you are coming back to the game after a long break, the new content that has been added during the past seasons is probably enough to keep you entertained without having to purchase VoH.
I played till mid-season without the XpaC and was doing perfectly fine in any game content. Finally purchased it. I have access to the Runes, the Mercs since a bit more than a week and haven’t seen much benefit in terms of performance for my builds.
As a still regular player, I appreciate having a new region to explore and a couple more activities (I play solo and won’t be doing the Citadel).
VoH story is short and I found it quite bad but this is just personal taste. You might like it.
Buying VoH now will also give you the possibility to play maybe the most broken build ever. It will be nerfed next season so it is your only chance.
I made a rather lengthy review of the expansion, got a video up and everything. To save you the trouble though, my recommendation was this.
If you enjoy the game currently, and have liked the changes they’ve been making to the game, wait for a sale. The expansion just adds more of the same. If instead you’re just skeptical, or feel the game is just mediocre at best, wait it out instead, see what they add in the next year. You really won’t be missing much.
Nothing really…The only problem is that without buying it it’s like playing with 2 broken legs and with the hands tied to your spinal cord…Because Eternal Realm items have been reworked and it’s literally unplayable with them :)))…But beside that nothing.
Same old raise your glyphs, farm some mats, press the slot machine button and if unlucky go again, over and over and over again, before you hit a point were you think you are trying a new character but in fact you are playing the same old builds that were good previous to the expansion :)))…They didn’t even bothered shifting the meta…
Rogue has the same barrage.
Sorc same old lightning spear/lightning orb spam.
Necromancer same old bonespear but triggered from a some blood orb…
Pretty much nothing changed…Except that you will be forced to play SB because they are op and Blizzard doesn’t want to nerf them.
So pretty much same old boring stuff that get’s tedious after 2-3 days. O and I forgot about the raid, because it’s such a boring annoying activity to run it for a cache with people that do not know what they are doing or barely understand what is happening in their head let alone in the game that it soon becomes infuriating rather than boring.
- VOH Campaign
- Dark citadel
- Mercs
- Runewords
- Undercity
- New mobs + new Bosses + new mobs fight strategies in Vahantu
- New Legion style + new Realmwalker content
- New Dungeon + Pit map
- Battering vendor
TBH, I spent $80 on all the above content and the next several seasons were worth it even though I don’t like the current mechanics of D4.
You could reward yourself with the expansion pack for a fresh experience…it’s up to you Bro!
What fresh experience ? Cuz you still do helltides, hoardes and trees all day long … What exactly is the fresh experience ?
yawn to the max.
Buy the expansion. If you like D4, it’s worth every penny.
yawn to the max.
If you are not a shill it’s not worth 2 pennies.
Bloody hell, man, why are you even here? Like, if you hate the game so much go do anything else besides troll the forums. You only live one time and you’re wasting it on negativity. Go hug a friend or buy a puppy or something. ffs
Maybe this is just your own feeling…
Wait until after the forward plan is fully implemented. or at least made clearer. With the announcement of group oriented content being the focus, they may start locking progression behind said content.
Why do you conclude that I am wasting time for hating the game or Blizzard…Ain’t I entitled to waste my time on anything that brings me joy ? Why aren’t you wasting your time for hugging puppies but I am wasting the time playing the forums…
Doublestandards ?
Yea, I see a lot of the people on the forum agree with you :)))
May I ask…Have you bought the VOH expansion yet? Or are you still playing the base game version?
They are part of S6.
There is a new Big Boss named Fenris.
Seriously make sure the game runs as it should before making any purchasing decisions.
I did not buy it, I played the whole season without the expac. I did not dislike everything about the season, but there is a lot of technical instability in S6. I also don’t feel like I missed anything too special. You will still hit a point where you no longer feel like moving on due to lack of content/purpose.
Yep, you are right! I mean there is an additional content in Realmwalker “Socketables” and only in Vahantu it has it and other locations don’t.
