You guys know twitch isn’t an accurate measurement of player base right?
Look I get that some of you dislike the game and or like it and try to use these numbers to prove your points but it doesn’t help that twitch numbers aren’t accurate with regards to the actual base that’s playing.
For one, just because someone’s being viewed does mean their viewers own the game, some people watch specific streamers just for their interaction while playing the game, and to them that’s their form of entertainment, by all means enjoy what you enjoy.
Secondly, botting is also a thing, it’s probably not a major thing but there’s enough to make it impactful I’m sure.
Thirdly, twitch is already a very small sub set of the base already.
So, to those trying to use numbers to strengthen you points that the game is good or bad based on viewers, your arguments fail because factors such as:
Popularity, so playing the game because it’s trendy, streamers tend to stream games that are trendy to increase viewer count.
Streamers can even get paid by companies to promote their products and not disclose this to the viewers.
Some games are more popular to watch than play, and some games are more fun to play than watch.
Hype trains die, the games hype will naturally die down over time.
Twitch isn’t the only factor to measure if a game is good or bad,
NEW LEAD SEASON DESIGNER FOLLOWING ONE SEASON. LMAO Enjoy your cesspool garbagecan game. Bg3 drops tommorow. Wonder what the numbers will look like then. #38 on twitch atm.
Oh I do enjoy it. Perhaps you should reflect on whatever it is in your life that makes you want to spend hours on a forum for a game you hate so much. That seems like a pretty sad existence. Surely you could be doing something more fun.
Yea, I came into watching twitch here and there late it’s fine for what it is, but’s it’s by no means an accurate measurement on a game being good or bad.
Take care of yourself, no need to get upset over a video game you dislike, I hope the best for you.
It’s true that it isn’t in itself a statement of whether a game is objectively good or bad, but it is a reflection of what you might call the “market sentiment” relating to the game. Overall, after the seasons began, the interest in the game from twitch viewers has dropped a lot. As you say there are many factors that influence twitch viewing, but a large one is interest in the game overall. The game is still doing okay (I just checked, and currently it has 25k viewers watching streams, as compared with WoW, which has 39k). It’s not a statement that the game is bad, but it’s a statement that market sentiment is down compared to what it was last month. And some of that is to be expected due to it not being a new game as well, although the fact that WoW is outdrawing it on Twitch is interesting.
I think it started cause a certain isolated lone single solitary individual person, (cant recall the exact name…), has been spamming white knight posts on the forums. One of them was bragging about the twitch viewer count at the time, another was the # of season 1 characters created and a few others.
This new wave of posts pointing out diminishing twitch views are in response to that white knight’s post.
You are a massive white knight maggot. And have literally done nothing but mindlessly defend any and all blizzard related topics of discussion. You are a waste of a human being, a brainrot infested white knight incapable of rational and incapable of critisism towards your favoured company. You are everything wrong with modern gaming development. Blizzard has been allowed to cater to fks like you for too long.
I know. But it’s why the posts are happening. The white knight was insistent the twitch numbers were relevant cause they made his argument look good at the time. So all the people he annoyed are now going “Hey! why are you so quite now, Mr. shiny knight?”
People obviously dont have good skills are discussing these subjects. Too much time on Twitter, I think.
Ignore the invective. The points are good - Twitch isnt an accurate sampling of interest, most players dont use the forums at all and there’s a million better indicators of how the game is going (witness the number of Season 1 characters created).
