đź’€ WGOTY? Thousands of reviews, 1.8/10 review score, what can be done to fix this?

https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-5/diablo-iv

What do you guys think can be done to fix this game and bring the score up to Diablo 3 quality?

  • add Greater Rifts?
  • change itemization to Diablo 2 standards?
  • add raids?
  • give us the option to play the Witch Doctor class from D3?
  • remove Nightmare Dungeons?
  • double the amount of cinders required in Helltides?
  • ability to zoom closer so I can see my toon’s beautiful face?

What ideas do you think will fix the game?

Review bombs don’t mean the game is bad. It means it has a community who likes to review bomb when they don’t get their way.

That’s all it means.

Review bombs and a sea of unhappy players are two different things, but I wouldn’t expect you to know the difference.

Add more content, add better and interesting bosses and boss fights. They can add in another layer, like a hell layer zone, and have more dungeons and boss fights in there. Realistically D4 isn’t bad, it just needs more exciting content.

Itemization, social features, shorter cooldowns without destroying balance, more stash space, zooming out a bit, improving performance, increasing build viability, more end game variety, blah blah the same stuff people repeat about a lot ^^

That score is never going high, there are too many haters who will probably never take it back. Let it go, let it go. If it’s good, you will know.

Returnal got review bombed for being too hard (and it’s supposed to be hard)

You just can’t make everyone happy.

The game is bad.

Diablo 4 has sales, but not player retention.

Last campfire chat, the Devs looked lost and depressed AF.

Doesn’t matter if you sold 666 million Worth of D4, if no one is around to play it.
Retention is key. Even Poe devs feel sorry for the D4 devs

Diablo 4 - 1.8
Diablo 3 - 4.2
Diablo 2 - 9.0
Diablo 1 - 8.6

PoE - 7.9
Grim Dawn - 8.4
Lost Ark - 5.2

It’s almost like when you make a bad product, it gets bad reviews. Crazy how that works.

These are good points.

Do you think, though, if itemization is fixed that even more stash space is really necessary? I’m up in the air about that one.

Diablo:Immoral deserves a spot on that list too! (it is 0.3)

We all know how much the community here loves D:I, right?

game not great, its not for 1.8, its a 5-6 for me currently.

Review score is mainly because the team seemed to not really listen to what community screamed at them so it snowballed.

Won’t speak of content but the fact the game is still in beta does not help either.
It feels that massive parts of the code needs to be redone from scratch.
The reason you have so many “fixed” per patch screams spaghetti/untested code.
It also feels that whenever I see a “fixed” I am thinking, could they have broken something else when they “fixed” this, which is not great.

Witch Doctor brought A LOT of backlash. I remember even some dev said something about it being “racist” or something. Compared it to the Jar Jar Binks feedback.

That speaks to a larger problem.

Allegedly no one likes Diablo Immortal, and yet, people play it even now, and it is one of Blizz’s most lucrative ventures.

Im sure Activision Blizzard cries about the metacritic review score right into their giant piles of cash.

Someone’s lying. Someone is playing that damn game.

They start by hiring new staff which they are currently doing. Then they work a buttload of overtime with the focus on the player and not Bobby’s wallet.

I look at gaming reviews the same way i look at Amazon reviews…I don’t

This game has at least another year before it is ready for release. By that time, no one will actually care that they fixed it. People will come back for the expansion to check it out, but if the expansion is full price, people will just keep playing PoE.

i already went back to playing d2. no interest in continuing to play this game honestly. i got my money’s worth playing non-ladder to 80, but have no interest in playing it again.
