Welcome Back Boost Problems

In addition to the boost not warning you beforehand that it will reset all your skills and stuff (and also doesn’t give the option to skip that and just increase char levels + get some gear like it should), the quest also keeps selecting itself if you choose not to do it, even after you have clicked to unselect it which is incredibly annoying. This was not well thought out and is characteristic of Blizzard’s overall lack of attention to detail.

I click the quest thinking it was some tutorial to introduce another aspect of the game and… the worst happend, lilith altars get instantly marked and all forced progress i never wanted. Now i will have to erase my character because of it. I would like a way to undo the boost, but sadly it’s not possible…

Yep same problem, it shows up as a quest so I thought I was clearing the quest. No warning or pop up. I wanted to play the game from the beginning so I will just delete and start over. Hopefully there isn’t anymore of those things.

Of course my reaction was a calm frustration, something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBLdQ1a4-JI
Like i said i take it in a very reasonable mood, like an adult and just did the standard erasing of characters to wait for the day blizzard allows me to reset the progression of my account. No more D4 for me

That’s not true, my friend. They wrote everything about that boost on their blog (www site).
I don’t like them too much either, but let’s be honest in what we say and write .

It should have been explained in-game. Not everyone wants to jump through hoops and visit 3 different sites just to get info on a game they want to play.

Hi, just startet Diablo4 again since a long time. There is no effective warning in the game. That really killed the motivation.

Agreed. I had a newer eternal character that I would have done the boost, but it didn’t load for it. So I tried on my main character and it was one click and SCREWED. All my progress botched, gear botched, skills botched. Now I just want to go back. This was a bad rollout.

So instead of given a basic - hey, this is what happens, are you sure?, disclaimer - we’re expected to find their blog about it? C’mon.

Alright - I agree with you.

Hey devs! Read this thread. This “boost” is a bug. There should absolutely be a warning and acceptance of the changes before just applying them.

I bought this game for the story and to play through it from beginning to end. To boost me without warning and without any indication as to what was going to happen from a quest-like NPC conversation is ridiculous. There should absolutely be a reversal process. Have you not seen the hundreds of posts from angry players??? Why is this not fixed?

This. Can’t upvote this enough.

Want to hide events/outcomes for the character or narrative? Sure! Hide things like a reward or a penalty for making a quest choice.

Want to hide player deterministic choices? NO! Show things like odds, Enchanting tables, etc.

Got gifted this game for Christmas and the same thing happened to me. Got boosted and tons of gold without knowing what was going on. I just wanted to play the campaign and enjoy leveling up a character. Deleted the character and remade them, no big deal on that end since they were brand new. But then all the account wide stuff sticking is really lame. Now the quest to get boosted keeps popping up in my log again and overwriting the main quest.
