Is it only me or do you also think that Weapon Throw is a very badly designed skill for the Barbarian class?
A Barbarian throwing his weapon that lands on the ground and begins vibrating and sending damaging waves by vibration?
Sounds ridiculous. Looks ridiculous. Does not make any sense. Does not fit to Barbarian class at all.
What do you think about the design of this skill?

I don’t know which game you’re on about, because last I checked, Diablo 4 does not have a Weapon Throw skill…
But in my books, yeah, all this… doing damage with vibration/quake using a heavy blunt weapon is badly designed.
When I play a “brute force” / Martial class like Barbarian, I’m looking for less fantasy-style effects, instead I expect to see what happens with a super-strength human expertly wielding weapons:
- If he’s wielding a giant axe or two-handed sword, he should be cutting demons in halves or decapitating them, not this… gave the demon a mighty chop, it’s still looks healthy in the aftermath but give it 10 seconds and it’s going to bleed to its death.
- If the Barbarian is wielding a giant blunt weapon, I’d be expecting him to be swinging Home Runs using the demons as the baseball - doing MASSIVE damage to the few enemies directly hit, and sending them flying across the screen as AOE/CC… This HoTA/Upheaval stuff is just nonsense and ruining the weapon - you’ll NEVER see masters of their weapons do that with any frequency, and it producing any damage is just wrong.
- Dual wielding is also not convincing in D4… I expect a weapon expert dual-wielding weapons to show a lot of variety in his attacks - a swipe with the mace, followed by a thrust with his sword, and adding kicks, elbow strike and even head butts to fight a crowd. Instead, we got this low-budget whirlwind animation that was only acceptable in the D2 days.
All of the above is due to the fact that the D4 Barbarian (or Rogue, not to mention casters) is not REALLY using his weapons at all in this game, those weapons are merely stat-sticks.
[Edit: Ohhh… I see it’s a new weapon mastery skill added since I last played Barbarian 2 seasons ago.]
I mean once they added Dust Devils… it kind of broke the class fantasy.

Agree. It will be interesting if one can’t use the weapon after throwing that weapon.
But you know, this skill is another core skill.
Only thing that doesn’t make sense is you complaining thread after thread. Why buy the xpac? Why continue to play?
…yet you still purchased it. Huh.

There were Dust Devils in literally day 1. Hell the WW aspect was in the public test.
I just remember some slow spinning dude.
we will never find out really. usually the answer is going to be like: BcUz i wAn d4 2b da beZt GaEm!".
reality is tho, that many people like d4, and apparently just like to complain a lot ^^

IT fits the Overall system. While the Animation Quality IS very high they are mostly boring and lazy in creation.
They Look dull and no Oomph.
Compared to PoE2 IT Lacks the windup time to sell a Big punch. Everything hast the Same ATK Speed No Matter what.
I have been playing Mighty Throw Barb for a few days. It is a fun to play and yet powerful build. No sure other abilities make more sense. Don’t see any special reason for being troubled by a weapon throw.

By far the most clunky build…smooth as jagged glass.
This and Upheaval are the least smooth builds for sure.
You can do pit 100 with it but it really is not fun.

Is it clear that OP did purchase it…? There’s no clue in this thread or in your quotes afaik… does the “weepon trow” skill require expac?
DD weren’t relevant until several seasons later, when they were majorly buffed (I remember Rod being very excited about that). The relative prominence of indirect ranged effects in Barb - unlike direct effects - feels silly. Still, I’m sure it’s fun for lots of ppl.
The hammer itself is a discrete object, and it does damage, ie an actual weapon that he wields. Or it channels other abilities that he controls, which emanate directly from him & through the hammer. (Also, set aside the lore which binds the hammer to him, and set aside that the object itself has volition, essentially making it a type of being… very different from a series of cast-and-forget quake turds).
The worst part about the skill is that it locks you in place throwing. If you could throw and move, it would be more viable. The other 2 weapons that get thrown are so conveniently placed so that you can’t make this viable for a boss kill. It’s pretty dumb. But whatever. I’m Deathblow anyways, so who cares
Sadly this is nothing new as the Developers seem to have issues with
strong skills & spells it started in D3 and got better over the years then
Blizzard/Buzzard threw away all the progress D3 had made when they
made D4, I use as proof the fact that first they removed/deleted the
Amazon in D3 and changed Strafe from a stationary attack skill to a
Moving one. Then in D4 they removed/deleted the Demon Hunter &
Strafe yes they EVENTUALLY Added in the unsatisfying Dance of Knives
to substitute for Strafe but really?! In D3 they added in a cooldown
spam where you spammed weak Undesirable skills/spells then
used/cast one strong one.
Does This sound overly complicated to you as well?
Undesirable skills/spells then used/cast one strong one…
Welp get used to it Because this is what Blizzard/Buzzard Ent.
Has devolved too,
PS Throw in Blizzards/Buzzards Exclusive multiyear Fenris issue that
afflicts Multiple products Diablo series, Call of Duty, Overwatch well
…

they are making the barbarian look like a lady in a red carpet gown, outputting fancier magics than a sorceress.
is better than any sorcerer skill…
be thankful
Does more DPS than any sorcerer skill…better is subjective as it looks and sounds like garbage.
The hell you mean “viable”? Mighty Throw arguably the strongest build Barb has ever had, outside of HoTA when it was getting juiced by Tears of Blood or whatever that Unique Season 2 Glyph was called.
