We really need WASD

Because DI is not a typical 2 axis freelook side scroller it was primarily developed for mobile devices with very limited input mechanisms.

He told da teacher wike a big boy.

Honestly, you can just make a new thread for things like this.

There is no need to scroll back to 6 months ago just to necro a thread like this

Holy necro batman, go play poe.

Controller support and no WASD is weird.

As much as I protested it I finally went controller on PC and won’t look back. WASD would help but the controller on this game is really good. I would highly recommend even if you KNOW you will hate it because I did and within an hour it felt so much better. That being said navigating most any menu swap back to KB/M lol.

my work around was to move the left click attack/skill to key 5. and just have left click as move/interact in options. At least I don’t end up fighting a killer mob when I am trying to flee a fight this way. But yeah WASD would help.

The only reason I haven’t swapped to controller is that skills like teleport=you have more control over exactly where you end up on M&K than on controller.

i dont even understand how wasd would work with a diablo like game, but hey, if people want it, theres no reason not to include it.

but seriously, how does wasd work in a top down perspective arpg type game?

its a really bad example, because i have no idea how it works still.

so you have wasd. does W make you go forward in relation to where character is facing, or does it make your character change direction where its facing and go what is essentially up on the monitor?

theres clearly something other than wasd that controls movement, because in that clip it seems like the character stays facing the threat and shooting the whole time even while going backwards? but then theres no way every time you need to move left on the monitor the character just walks backwards right?

i really need an explanation on how this stuff works. im not against it, i think if ppl want it implement it. i just dont get how it works.

wait, i had to watch this like 10 times to pick up on this. does the character always face the mouse? is that the trick?

so the character always faces the mouse, i get that, but is W moving forward towards the mouse, or is W moving north on the monitor screen? this is just confusing.

W moves “north”, A moves “West”, S moves “South”, and D moves “East”.

The charcter can either turn to face where they are moving, or always face the mouse cursor, that varies from game to game.

In the Path of Exile clip, I think it’s not that the character always faces the cursor necesarily, but that particular ability begins firing and locks the direction as long as the ability lasts, thus allowing you to move in a direction different than the one you’re firing at, even if you’re using “traditional” mouse and keyboard movement. (But I’m not sure, I don’t play POE, and I’m not certain if that class is even out yet anyway.)

You will adapt to use the skill within the confines of directional skill proccing pretty quick. It is well worth the comfort I promise.

They said wasd is being added for D4 and its nearly ready, but that was before season 2 went live. Hope its out before season 3

I have never played PoE but after watching this, I will for sure give PoE 2 a try!
