Im not familiar with the storyline or main characters enough to say so I’ll ask the people more invested in the storyline.
with all the big time action heros we have now like Dwayne Johnson. Vin Diesel and the guy from Aquaman. Plus the recnt bad A33 females that have been leading actresses in major movies. And many others who should pay what parts ?

Movies are a hard sell right now. Most of them are losing alot of $$$. Movies as we know it in person might not exist in a decade.
That being said the Warcraft movie was solid.

ya covid more or less ruined movies as we know it. people dont flock to the theaters like they used to when its easier and cheaper to stream at home. the budgets for movies have continued to shrink and will continue. heck im shocked amc is still around, but that will change in time
they charge everyone $20 for admission and you go in to watch the rough draft of the trailer

I agree. I enjoyed the Warcraft movie. A Diablo movie would be nice so long as my necro was the main hero 
Having said that, I dont go to theaters anymore. Tickets, food and drink are way overpriced and I know the movie will be available on a streaming service in 3 to 4 months.
I would absolutely love a Diablo live action movie. I thought there was talk of a Netflix series, forget if it was animated or live action. They don’t need big name actors as long as they’re half decent. Cain of course would need to be there. Can’t think of any actors that would suit him.
I think that’s mostly due to bad writing and not covid. There is barely any major movie since years with decent story that’s not already been made.
50% of released movies is either marvel or Disney revivals.
It’s not that I’m opposed in principle, but nearly every film adaptation of a videogame IP results in colossal failure. I’d rather not add Diablo to that list.

Im not sure thats 100% accurate. Heres a list of 21 games, as i havent seen all of them i cant comment but i know a few were really well done, The Tomb Raider movies i thought werre outstanding for 1.

I just watched Gan tourismo a week ago and was surprised how good it actually was, b4 i watched i thought it was gonna suck tbh.
I’ll be more specific. The live action adaptations are, in my own subjective opinion, almost never very good. This strikes me as especially true the more serious the subject matter gets. Cartoons have a better time of it because they’re allowed to be abjectly silly and the source material usually is as well. Likewise, if you like cheesy action flicks that critics never seem to give more than 2.5 to 3 stars, or soapy dramas with poor plotting and pacing and lots of overacting, go for it. It’s not technically my business what people enjoy, though I will mock them for it at least a little bit.
For my own part though, I’m basically never very impressed. It doesn’t mean I refuse to watch any of them or that I hate them all. Some are entertaining despite amateurish production and writing, almost in that same sense many cult classics are enjoyed. Hell, until they ruined the pacing with the last ~3 episodes of the season, I actually thought The Last of Us was done quite well, though the excellent source writing helped a lot. I haven’t seen Gran Turismo but I’ve heard that it was better than expected. However, it does have the benefit of coming from a game with no story and therefore no requirements placed on the creators apart from loosely adhering to the story of that kid who won a real-life GT tournament to become a racer.
Funnily enough, the author of the first article you linked to appears to agree with me.

Yes theres been bad movies based on PC games but the movie and gaming industries are working closer and better together today then they ever did in the past.
Look at the Jurassic park tie ins between the Game and movie for example.
$$$$$ is the driving force, the movie industry knows how big the market is in video games so they will do everything possible to get some of that pie.
PC games like Diablo come with a built in fan base so the money is basically laying on the ground and any movie studio merely has to ben over and pick it up;
Barbie is a prime example of a fan base powering a movie with unending love and cold hard cash.
The bottom line is both industries benefit from the other. And as a consumer we get better and better products to choose from.
Yes the bar started VERY low, but its been raised steadily at a constant pace im happy with.
The Assasins creed movies were also really good. It progress that cant be stopped or slowed, if you or 1 dont particularly like something there 1000 ppl behind us with money in hand that will.

Hey, fair enough! Just because I may not think something is quality has virtually zero impact on how much it’ll make at the box office or how many millions of other satisfied viewers there will be. I’m just too serious about my stories in film and television and find most stuff to be lacking due to that. Probably just a defect with me that I can’t enjoy the silly things in life as much as I once did. 
Hell no. Diablo doesn’t need a movie ffs. Say you did make a movie, who would be the protagonist? A Barb? Rogue? Druid? Sorcerer? Necro? Whatever you pick, you will make fans of the other classes mad. Besides the plot isn’t movie worthy. Kill Diablo because Diablo bad. Hell bad. Heaven sort of bad to humans.

Your not alone, just tonight i watched a 2023 movie on netflix that had a prison with hinged 2 screw man sized air conditioning ducts/vents that ran from each cell to every other cell and guards on duty that were looking down at comic books instead of watching the security monitors.
Then later the female hero fired tec-9’s on full auto that made golf ball sized holes in concrete pillars.
I too see things and story lines that drive me crazy but what can you do, i used to drive my family crazy pointing out stuff like that but now they look at me biting my tounge and they laff cuz they know i have SO much to say but dont anymore
