Waypoints / Strongholds Account Wide

Can we please make these account wide? Huge obstacle for me when I consider making an alt. I don’t want to do all the running around again.

Edit: added my response to the main thread as it better articulates my issue with these not being account wide.

As it currently stands. I hate doing strongholds and collecting waypoints, I feel most people would agree.

I do the strongholds for the waypoints and I hate seeing the stupid red skulls on my map for the ones that do not provide waypoints. Call it ADHD if you wish to. I genuinely hate seeing them, a significant part of that is because I already did them on another character.

Thus, the barrier to entry for an alt is pretty high right now considering waypoints are relatively necessary and the strongholds just bother me not being done.

This is about 80% of the reason I just do one character per season then never login again after about two weeks.

Blizzard wants retention, they think leaving these petty tasks for us to do will keep us occupied, when it literally serves the opposing purpose, it makes us not want to try new characters.

At least in my case, of course. I highly doubt I am alone.

Thank you.

No. I strongly disagree with you here. This is literally just part of playing the game. We don’t need to share progress across all characters simply because a small minority want to hyper focus on a small part of the overall experience.

Add Lilith accountwide too, I am not going to do the capstone on every friggin character. She is a chore.

Running around and clicking circles on the ground is not content, it’s time wasting busywork. Waypoints should absolutely be account wide.

Edit: Strongholds I could go either way on, at least they are real gameplay.

I could be persuaded on waypoints to be honest, but I would absolutely not want the strongholds to be account wide. Even on the waypoints though, my personal preference would be to just leave it as it is. Sharing too many things across characters starts to dilute the experience in my opinion.

I wish they’d do away with the entire renown system. I don’t know why anyone thought all that busywork would be compelling to do over again on subsequent characters. The gold/XP in the characters-specific reward tier isn’t worth the work, and now that the shared tier is account wide, there’s no reason new characters shouldn’t inherit all of it.

On the flip side, it also lets new seasonal characters start out with way too much power. They need to come up with a better system for earning those extra skill points, like tying it into the reputation vendor. Something you acquire naturally while leveling and engaging with the seasonal content.

It boggles my mind that people think it’s cool to start out at lvl 1 with 12 skill points, but every character should have to clear Tur Dulra. That waypoint is a rite of passage!

I said this to my guildies the other day.
Should have an option of “skip strongholds” like skip campaign at the start.
Some people don’t mind them, decent source of XP and all that.
But yeah… 12 characters in I am pretty much done.

Devs have been surprisingly recalcitrant on this. I believe in the past, they wanted us to explore the world.

They dont seem to understand exploring the world isnt about unlocking waypoints. It’s about unlocking lore, story, Players should enter a zone and see a impenetrable fort of an imposing statute, or some desolate wasteland devoid of all life and wonder “what happened here”. The conclusion of the storyline, not some BS +rep faction, should unlock the +skills, paragon points, and whatever.

Waypoints, yes
strongholds, no

Waypoints, strongholds, renown, and side quest should all be account wide. After one time I never want to do them again. It just makes me not want to make new characters.

I would prefer to never have to do a stronghold ever again, so I’m on team auto complete for all other characters.

Could play eternal.

I dont even open waypoints or do strongholds anymore…
