Whats so hard to understand about not having time? Theyve not outright denied its comming.
Use a controller like other folks chooses to do.

Itâs always you and maybe one other person that constantly posts against this. Meanwhile supporters of this idea are a wide variety of people that come here to post about it. Itâs a very in demand feature. Only a very small vocal minority doesnât want it.
It clearly wasnât a design decision during development. Thatâs understandable as Diablo on MnK has always tried to remain traditional with mouse click for movement. This is simply how the game was envisioned during development.
At this point in development, theyâre bug fixing, optimizing, and polishing things that need to be polished. Adding WASD just isnât a priority for Blizzard right now, so close to launch. Who knows what will happen after launch. If people keep requesting it, it very well could happen but less than 2 months away means they wonât be doing many revisions or iterations to features and mechanics.
Seems to me to be a huge oversight. I donât know why they didnât notice they had it in Diablo Immortal but didnât feel it was important to keep mechanic consistency to their main PC release of Diablo. Especially with incorporating game pads, which have an extreme advantage in stutter stepping and kiting. There is no keeping the original Diablo experience after incorporating those.
For sure, who knows. Different leads/game directors with different views on what should and shouldnât be I suppose?
I think any advantage discussions are kind of moot. Itâs not going to be some crazy balanced PVP game thatâs trying to be the next popular e-sport. Classes and gear themselves, will have advantages and disadvantages inherently. Controller vs MnK or WASD vs mouse click will be pretty negligible among the various other differences anyway.
Well yeah I mean thatâs true. I would say that if PVP was the only issue, it wouldnât be that big of a deal, just super annoying and would end PVP for most keyboard players.
But kiting and stutter stepping are best practices for PVE too. Controllers just give an extreme advantage to any kind of content that benefits from mobility while attacking. I donât think they should be eliminated from the game or anything. Just bring the standard PC controls up to par. Otherwise, itâs basically telling the customers they need to spend another $80 to use various mechanics that are in the game without doing long-term damage to their wrists â and even then, not coming close to the efficiency of a gamepad doing the same thing.
iâd take the QOL angle better than the accessibility one tbh.
i try to see it but i cant get over the fact that
(wasd+abilities+mouse w/clicks) is more inputs than (abilities+mouse w/clicks)
i would see it if somehow going wasd eliminated the need for mouse but it just doesnt. youre simply adding more things to press. - meaning LESS accessibility.
Youâre actually not adding more things to press. Not when you play the game in an effective manner. The best way to play ARPGs is by stutter stepping and kiting. Yes, if you just stand there pressing abilities, then WASD doesnât benefit you. But if youâre actually moving backwards turning around then shooting then moving backwards again then turning around and shooting again â WASD works just like a gamepad does. You just press the direction youâd like to move but have your target be where you want to shoot and just press the shoot button. Very simple.
To achieve this with a mouse and keyboard it takes five or six clicks a second just to get a shot off. And even then, youâre not playing as efficiently as the WASD or gamepad user. Who just has to hold down two buttons and theyâre good to go.
so less clicks but more button mashing?
more left hand strain less right hand strain. for those that somehow have issues with the right hand more than the left hand? i can see that⌠itâs getting pretty niche though ![]()
the QoL angle seems more straight forward/valid in my head.
Not at all. You just press one key to move one way and then press one button to shoot your ability multiple times. Itâs two key presses for an entire combat.
Versus about 200 clicks and moving your mouse cursor over the screen left and right twice every second.
Kiting in ARPGs is far from niche.
Thereâs no contest.
Bind âforce moveâ to W
No spam clicking to move. No spam WASD to move. This is already in the game.
Yea bull sh!t right there, now the left hand will need to use movement and abilities. Wtf do you think D4 is? an FPS shooter?
WASD on a Arpg is just something Stupid, by seeing your character from the top you canât go the way youâd do in an FPS controling your camera as well
If you want to go â A
If you want to go â D
If you want to go â S
If you want to go â W
BUT
If you want to go
ď¸ youâll have to press A+W
If you want to go
ď¸ youâll have to press S+D
You think you want WASD until you realease you need to play like thatâŚ
You have my support on this issue. I really want WSAD. Let people that want WSAD control play with that scheme. Something as simple as this can also help new people stick around as well.
Oh i totally understand and donât say âThis game SHOULDâNT have itâ to be honest i donât care, thatâs nice for people who want to play with it if Blibli add it
But still, i donât think itâll work well on a ARPG game
This isnât a new thing. Many people have played with WASD and realize they want it.
Necromancing this, please for the love of sanctuary make this a thing so that my partner will play the damn game with me.
I stand by us needing WASD, even with launch upon us this should absolutely have been prioritized.
I agree, because everyone I know is basically waiting for this feature
You know what, fine. Even iâve been against WASD but enough people want it for pretty good reasons, why not. I just hope it doesnât make too much stuff more trivial than it already is
