Was Diablo always like that?

Remembered playing maybe a day of D2 at my friend’s place, played D3, now D4.
was it always like that- No end Game and leveling glyphs meaning always running just one same activity? I feel like getting to lvl 50 is end Game, after that is just (game of grind, frustration and boredom) I do like the game for its graphics and characters though…

D2 was boss runs until you got bored. D3 was Greater Rifts until you hit 150 or got bored. D4 is also Pits until you hit 150 or get bored. So generally speaking, yes it’s always been this way.

Granted each game has done things differently to get to that point, but the end content to each game has always just been one long grind.

Well, in D1 it was start the game. If you didn’t get the yellow well, keep making a new game until you get it. After that, you go into the church and keep going deeper and deeper until you get to Hell and then Kill diablo.

In D2, you farm any bosses for keys, runes & gear.

In D3, you just blast whatever portal you want and you’ll make progress.

In D4, you farm crafting materials all day long and then before you log off you’re left with a temper bricked weapon.

But it’s OK. Only 2 days left.

Until another game comes out with another grind, a longer grind than D2 through 4 I would say. Which isn’t a bad thing, but need to set the expectations for new players for that game.

D2 was all about the PVP when you were bored of magic find runs, chaos/baal runs, gambling, crafting, and trading. The PVP was surprisingly balanced, fast paced, and fun.

The campaign takes 35-40 hours, at that point you should be around Lv 65 and starting the end game grind. Nobody said PoE was for the casual gamer with 5 jobs and 7 kids, but if D4 is the alternative I’ll take my chances.

Oh I agree completely, it’s definitely not for the casuals of D4. D4 is if you have multiple wives and kids. PoE is if you have more than 2 to 8 hours to spend on a video game for the week. I’ll be waiting for the official release myself, but I’ll be keeping tabs on it during EA.

I’ll be in the EA, I refuse to punish myself with this game for another year while everyone else is blasting D:

in my prime of PoE think my best time was five or six hours. think people do it now in like 1-2.

we’re talking about PoE 2, keep up.

it’s not going to be any different after a few years lol

if not sooner.

Again, not at all what we’re talking about.

The only thing I see is you being a clown. I said the campaign takes 35-40 hours. Then you go and try to predict the future. You see now how the two aren’t at all related?

if I remember right it was you that posted your 1k hours played in poe?
that is beginner level. no joke.

D2’s endgame was chasing items. Simple as. It still scratches a very specific itch that no other game can, but yes, its endgame was very thin. Thing is, that wasn’t really an issue over 23 years ago due to how much it already revolutionized the genre.

Again. Not at all what we’re talking about. How many L’s does one need to take before they realize it’s not going their way. Where’s the stop loss.

here’s a tip.
no one is going to watch a streamer play poe2 for 40 hours before they get to the endgame. it’s not a prediction, it’s a fact.
the go fast meta will take over.

Again. Trying to predict the future. Also, I GUARANTEE people are going to watch PoE 2 streams on day 1. All content is new. People aren’t only going to watch a 40 hour campaign, they’re going to watch a 5 hour queue before hand. Wake up.

I think you have to desire this itch though, as d2r was nostalgic for me, but I don’t get the hype or appeal of this so called chase itch that is whispered about, :man_shrugging:
I guess you had to be there in the day or soemthing.

Not knocking btw, i wish i knew how it feels.
